Hello I'm trying to get this card to work on 10.9.2 http://www.tonymacx86.com/graphics/92952-list-confirmed-radeon-hd-7xxx-series-10-8-3-a-24.html but It doesn't seem to be recognized.

I can get 19200x1080 but it lags/distorts the screen when performing tasks such as switching to dashboard on opening anything.

I've tried adding my device id to AMDController7xxx and AMDx400 but the screen goes black after reboot using HDMI and with DVI screen shows but boot hangs up the at the apple screen.

to clear up the confusion i would like to note, that in my particular case, after updating to 10.9.2, the frame buffers got broken for both of my asus 7970 and asus 280x. I have dual screen setup. One screen i got working, but never too. But even one screen needed different frambuffer than the standard one. Im trying both screens to work on DP (7970) or DP+DVI (280x)

I spent two days experimenting with both cards with various frame buffers with no success.

i reverted to 10.9.1 and I'm happy with all the functionality OTB again.
i have seen other people have the same experience with 10.9.2, so my advice is go 10.9.1 first, backup and than try 10.9.2

Does one have to do anything to get 7950 working well on mavericks? I plugged it in but opencl is only reading 300 :D

*ejected caches, reboot and voila mad 7xxx, no framebuffer though, is that important? hdmi from hd4600 still works, audio and all

Almost 1950 on luxmark, just the 7950 without igpu or cpu, photoshop open in the background and all

qbe: I have the same problem as you, the card not work well after upgrade to 10.9.2 (I am using Sapphire 7970 Vapor-X GHz Edition 3G via DP), so i stick at 10.9 for now (may be try 10.9. soon).

FYI - I have no problem like any other, My simple install went find & smoothly from start - finish, and just working great with Chimera 2.1.1 without any garbage problem at boot.

M/B: Gigabyte G1.Assassin
CPU: LGA1366 X5670 6C/12T run at stock 2.9GHz
Mem: 24GB
VGA: Sapphire HD7970 Vapor-X 3GB

Geekbench: around 15,xxx
openCL : 2,368

I have a Powercolor AX7850 2GB which I haven't been able to work with at all since I've never gotten QE/CI. I want to see if anyone has success with it if that's possible. This thread hasn't been that active but shouldn't it be right now with the new update?

After updating to OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 my Graphics Card Gigabyte AMD Radeon HD7850 Windforce (GV-R785OC-1GD) now works out of the box perfectly.

I have gotten this card to work, but not really. It has QE/CI once the desktop loads. I can't open apps that require hardware acceleration. If I do the screen turns into stripes of color, rendering the system unusable until I restart the computer. I've gotten the card to work by using the video bios from the Gigabyte version of the 7850 listed on the first page of this thread, and booting with Clover.

Here's the card I'm using if it matters to anyone:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131562

But the card is recognized. I am using 10.9.0

EDIT: I updated to 10.9.3, changed the vbios to a HIS rom, and it works flawlessly! I've attached the rom if anyone needs it.
