Comments

I haven't build an mackintosh since 2011. After my 2600K Build I switched to an Mac Mini in 2012 and later to a MacBook Pro 13 in 2016. This build focuses on the Mini ITX system (System 1). The purpose of this system is to be a Plex media server, a NAS and a time machine backup server witch runs 24/7 and has to be as quiet as possible. I have to mention that the on board WIFI card is not compatible with MacOS and the second ethernet port (Atheros) isn't working too. Bluetooth is working.

Installation Notes
Make sure your on the latest non beta BIOS F7 for the best RAM and system stability.

UEFI Settings
1. To access UEFI Setup, press and hold Delete on a USB Keyboard while the system is booting up
2. In Save & Exit: Set to Optimized Defaults.
3. (Optional) In M.I.T: Go to Advanced Memory Settings and change Memory Enhancement Setting to Enhanced Stability.
4. In Bios Features: Set VT-d to disabled. Set Windows Features to Other OS. Set Boot Mode Selection to UEFI Only.
5. In Peripherals: Set XHCI Mode to AUTO. Set XHCI Hand-off to Enabled. Set EHCI Hand-off to Enabled. In Super IO Configuration set Serial Port A to Disabled.
6. (Optional) In Power Management: Set Wake on Lan to Enabled
7. (Optional) Save & Exit: Save your UEFI Profile.

Installation
For installation I used UniBeast 8.2.0 and MultiBeast 10.2.0 and the latest version of macOS high sierra 10.13..3. I had some trouble to get wake on lan to work but after switching from AppleIntelE1000 v3.3.6 to IntelMausiEthernet v3.2.0 I works just fine. The only things that are not working are WIFI and HDMI audio. Both of with will be never used in this server configuration.

MultiBeast Settings
Use the following settings and reboot following a successful installation.

High Sierra 10.13.3 MultiBeast 10.2.0

Quick Start > Clover UEFI Boot Mode
Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > ALC892
Drivers > Disk > 3rd Party SATA
Drivers > Misc > FakeSMC
Drivers > Misc > FakeSMC Plugins
Drivers > Misc > FakeSMC HWMonitor Application
Drivers > Network > Atheros > AtherosE2200Ethernet v2.2.2
Drivers > Network > Intel > IntelMausiEthernet v3.2.0
Drivers > USB > 7/8/9 Series USB Support
Drivers > USB > Increase Max Port Limit
Bootloader > Clover UEFI Boot Mode
Customize > System Definition > iMac > iMac 14,2

HDMI Audio Fix:
To enable HDMI audio is used the clover HDMI script from this guid: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/audio-hdmi-audio-applehda-guide.143760/
1: Download the cloverHDMI.command.zip from step guid above.
2: Run the audio_colverHDMI-130_v0.8.command
3: The script will ask a few questions. Press Y to continue until it asks for NVIDIA/AMD SSDTs. Press N and the script will finish.
4: Restart and check you audio setting. HDMI Audio should be listed and working.

At last here are some pics from the system:

Nice build

I'm a big fan of Lian-Li cases and this must be the pinnacle! Very neat :)

As for your MultiBeast settings - I never had this motherboard but are the two LAN connections Intel & Realtek? Not certain about the Atheros? I'm not an expert though. Perhaps it works ok.

As for the wifi not working. This is true. Gigabyte usually use Intel wireless chips and these are not supported in macOS and no-one has produced a kext to help us yet. Best option is to change the wi-fi card for a Broadcom or Atheros compatible model.

To get HDMI sound out of the CPU requires two kexts - FakePCIID.kext & FakePCIID_Intel_HDMI_Audio.kext

Some people have stated this does not work for them, but it works fine for me and I get HDMI output showing in my System Preferences/Sound panel as the name of my monitor etc.

Thank's

Like you I really love the design and finish of Lian Li cases. I fell in love when I saw this case. It took me a wile to save up the money to buy it.

The motherboard has two ethernet controller, Intel and Atheros. The Intel driver gives me some trouble with wake on lan kernel panic's so I will switch to the Atheros post to see if it works more stable.

I also will try the two kexts you recommended me to fix the HDMI audio.

I will update this build when I finde the solution to the problem soon.
