I have installed High Sierra on my Lenovo x220 laptop, but I can't seem to get the audio working. I have followed the guide here: http://x220.mcdonnelltech.com/ but have not had success with getting audio working. I have also tried AppleALC as an injection method. Additionally, I tried VoodooHDA for High Sierra but no luck. My laptop's audio codec is Conexant 20672 which I believe is equivalent to Conexant 20590. Is there something I am missing?

maybe you should see:https://github.com/tluck/Lenovo-T420-Clover
my x220 use t420 clover,According to the instructions, T420 EFI is running well on the x220, including the sound, not recommend the reference: http://x220.Mcdonnelltech.com/, it is an incomplete guide, Goodl lucky.

Thanks for both of your replies.

I forgot to mention in my first post that I am running a modified BIOS to remove the WiFi whitelist. I have investigated the issue a bit further and it seems that the sound card is not properly initialized in any operating system.

In Ubuntu, I'm unable to get a proper codec dump. All that is shown is 3 HDMI audio devices. In Windows, the Lenovo Conexant driver doesn't detect the Conexant audio codec. It only shows 3 HDMI audio devices. In macOS, if I use VoodooHDA, I get 3 HDMI audio devices as well. Standard AppleHDA patches/injections for the Conexant codec do not work at the moment.

As of right now, I'm thinking this is hardware related or some bad configuration of the modified BIOS that is preventing the Conexant codec from being detected on any operating system. Has anyone else experienced this?

Sounds like you disabled Azalia from the BIOS.

No suggest use VoodooHDA,Please confirm that the X220 is equipped with VGA and DP port, not equipped with HDMI interface, VGA is hard to drive in HD3000 under Mac, DP It works well on x220. If you have a display that supports HDMI, you can try using a DP connector to connect HDMI, and if you have a monitor that supports DP input, use the DP cable connection directly, so that using an external monitor on the x220 is an optimal combination.

It appears as though my issues were related to the particular Lenovo x220 tablet I had and the whitelist patched BIOS. No matter what configuration, I couldn't get Azalia re-enabled. I ended up buying a new Lenovo x220 (non-tablet version) and patching the BIOS and audio is working as expected! This issue has now been solved! Thanks everyone.
