The Yosemite Installation Guide says:

16. If using a 5 or 6 Series system with AWARD BIOS choose Legacy USB Support

As far as I know, this option wasn't needed in the past for 6-Series systems (e.g. Z68) - is this a new requirement? The description of Legacy USB Support still only mentions LGA 1156 motherboards. What does this option do exactly?

I was wondering this myself. I decided not to use it (because it's never applied to Z68 before), especially since I am running the UEFI bios. Then again, I have yet to successfully install Yosemite, so maybe I'm wrong. I am getting an error that no one else is: at the end of the install, it says, "yoesmite couldn't be installed on your Mac. Building boot caches on boot helper partition failed." I have absolutely no idea what that means.
