I'm a little rusty lately.
But is it true that the latest versions of clover are the carbon copy of opencore?

thanks

No but Clover has 'borrowed' some of the features of OpenCore.

yes, but my doubt is another.
if clover actually became an opencore clone.

No, it isn't, but...

The patching "engine" in the old Clover will not work for Big Sur so the dev added the OpenCore code to get around this from v5124.

Up to Mojave the Clover v510* builds did everything in an easily understandable way. With Big Sur there must be new challenges for the dev to overcome and if their decision was adding OC code as the best way around this, then that is what we have.

Unless we wish to write our own bootloader ...

My personal choice:

Up to Mojave = Clover
Catalina and Big Sur = OpenCore

:)
OpenCore has become more compatible for legacy builds and ancient versions of macOS. I successfully installed Snow Leopard to P43 with minimal changes to OpenCore.
