  1. iOS
I have three ancient Hackintosh boxes that have been running on OSX Sierra for years.

I need to upgrade them to at least a somewhat modern operating system - at least one that web browsers/certificates will still work on. Would rather go as recent as possible, as long as costs are not prohibitive.

The three machines are:

(1).
Motherboard: Z87MX-D3H
Processor: Intel Core i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GHz
Graphics Card: EVGA GEFORCE GTX-760 2047 MB
Ram: 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

(2).
Motherboard: 277X-UD5H
Processor: Intel Core 17-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHZ
Graphics Card: None/Integrated
Ram: 8GB @ 1600 MHz DDR3

(3).
Motherboard: B85M-D3H
Processor: Intel Core 15-4460 CPU @ 3.20GHZ
Graphics Card: None/Integrated
Ram: 8GB @ 1600 MHz DDR3

Two questions:

(1). What is the latest operating system each of these could run? (I have no problem throwing in some cheap graphics cards and more ram if needed.)

(2). Only one (277X-UD5H) of these motherboards even has an mSATA slot - none has NVMe. Is NVMe absolutely essential for OS 11/12/13 or can a standard SSD work?

System (1) and (2) : MacOS Big Sur (as is)
System (3) : MacOS Monterey

The current version MacOS Ventura only officially supports Intel 7th generation CPUs and their associated integrated graphics (and later up to 10th generation).

If you remove the Nvidia card from system (1) and use the CPU integrated graphics then it should also be able to run MacOS Monterey. Apple removed all Nvidia GPU support in MacOS Monterey and Ventura.

If you can find a cheap AMD RX 460 or RX 560 then you may even be able to run MacOS Ventura on system (1) and (3).

Standard SATA SSDs will work with the newer MacOS versions. I use SATA SSDs (old Intel) in my main system even though it is capable of supporting NVMe M.2 SSDs.

Thanks so much!
