After many hours I've managed to get Yosemite to work on my probook 4530s!!!

Everything else is fine but I just noticed that the usb 3.0 port is not working with usb 3.0 external hard dives/usb sticks/etc. It did when I was on Mavericks.

I've searched on here but I have no idea what to do regarding kexts or plists so any advice explained to me like im 5 would be really appreciated.

I've attached the text from a Linux terminal command: "Lspci -nn" and some other files too in the hope they may help shed light on the problem...

Thanks as always
Paul

Moved off-topic thread (your question does not regard Lion) to correct forum.

See guide:
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...book-zbook-using-clover-uefi-hotpatch.232948/

The provided plists have the required patches in the config.plist.

No "Problem Reporting" files attached.
Read FAQ, "Problem Reporting" again. Carefully. Attach all requested files/output.

Your advice has bricked the laptop so all i have is the Lspci -nn info, install log, pci.txt, and full laptop spec which are all in post one of this thread.

Currently having to rehack from scratch.

My livelihood depends on getting this laptop working and having usb 3 fuctioinal.

As mentioned in my first post I have little understanding of kexts and plists so would appreciate a little patience.

Surely the usb 3 issue can be fixed with the replacement of just a few kexts or plists? Rather than all the steps/installs in your guide??

I just need usb 3 to work and then I'm sorted!

No idea without verbose boot photo and EFI/Clover.
EFI is FAT32, so can be accessed from Linux, Windows, or macOS/OS X.
If you made a mistake with your EFI/Clover on your main drive, you should be able to boot using your USB with Clover on it.
Refer to the guide for creating USB installer with Clover:

Tried booting from my trusty usb with clover on it but sill get to the black screen shortly after.

Not to worry, I've just wiped the drive and started again. Will keep trying.

Thanks for your help and speedy replies as always. You are a machine!

its appreciated : )

Hey RehabMan, After many hours I've realized that usb3 works after a clean install, but stops after I use migration assistant. I move ONLY: Applications, and Two Usernames Over. (Other files and folders are not migrated).

Could you advise where I should be looking to see what might have changed before and after the migration please?

I am still super new to all this.

Many thanks
Paul
