I have finally come back after a long break from this site.
I was contemplating a Macbook pro Retina purchase but couldn't justify the lack of options
and dummed down graphics processing so I built a HackPro 5,1 instead.
I needed a computer that would be powerful enough to do 3D modeling, Photo Editing and 2K-4K cinema footage processing from a variety of sources. The computer needed to have a Graphics card that was 4K capable. I searched high and low and found several cards. Then I read about the GTX Titan. Since this is a somewhat easier card to purchase in S.Korea because of the high number of Gamers in the local population, I decided to give it a go in my system. I'm certainly not regretting this purchase.
I also chose the Noctua NH-D14 cpu air cooler for it's large surface area and performance with overclocks.
I currently have my overclock set to 4.78Ghz in the Bios which shows up as 4.75Ghz in the HWMonitor and get temperatures sporadically into the mid 60c range. These temps are peak only. System runs 33-35c idle.

I have learned a lot through tinkering with the BIOS and the .kext files.
I started this build on an iMac 27" 3770 profile and found that my overclocking wasn't working as I wanted it to. Even after setting the C/P states in Chameleon it still wouldn't work as it should have. I would have to put the computer into sleep mode in oder for the overclock to show up in HWMonitor.

-- Problem with Overclock reporting by system was solved when moving to a MacPro 5,1 profile.
* I removed the AppleTyMCEDriver.kext from System/Library/Extensions/ which causes a Kernel Panic upon startup.
IF YOU are going to use the MacPro profiles you absolutely must remove this driver.

I followed several user builds to give me some direction.
these are as follows:

ethankline's post helped me with the Multibeast 5.3 configuration for the GA-Z77X-UP5-TH boards.[

GBZ77's post has excellent material regarding dual Graphics HD4000 with Nvidia/AMD.

http://www.tonymacx86.com/mountain-lion-desktop-support/91297-hd4000-another-graphics-card-together.html

Another excellent post regarding dual Graphics cards Intel 4000 + Nvidia/AMD Graphics card.

Using the iMac configuration gave me 2 states on on bootup and another after wake. The after wake mode was the overclock. I was frequently having my USB drive loose their connectivity.

I'd like to report that my build is finally up and running as a MacPro.:headbang::p

Procedures
I followed the general install instructions listed on this forum for installing 10.8.2 and 10.8.3.
I used the new release of Multibeast 5.2 and used the Unibeast installer to make my USB key.
http://www.tonymacx86.com/307-multibeast-5-2-update.html

I am using OSX 10.8.4 (12E40) developer so that the Titan can be seen and by utilized by my system. This is also a completely stable build. I am registered as a developer.
The previous two builds gave me some errors on Safari and Apple Mail.

For anyone that is curious about using both Intel 4000 and the Titan together one must paste
Code:
<key>device-properties</key> <string>7f0000000100000001000000730000000200000002 010c00d041030a000000000101060000027fff04002c000000 4100410050004c002c00690067002d0070006c006100740066 006f0072006d002d0069006400000008000000050062011400 00006800640061002d0067006600780000000d0000006f6e62
6f6172642d31</string>
into the Org.chameleon.Boot.plist file in your extras folder.
this allows the internal to show up with the Graphics Enabler setting set to (no)

Please also make sure that your PCI lanes are set to x16 in the bios as the Gigabyte
Z77X- series has these disabled by default.
*I also set the internal Graphics mode to Auto and graphics mode to IGFX.
If this step is not followed either you'll get only the GTX Titan or only HD4000.

There will be more details on this build as soon as I can find time to upload my screen shots.

Post install Customization
I followed the instructions from
http://www.tonymacx86.com/customization/79536-mod-about-mac-10-8-a.html

and modded my About my Mac
Here is my result.
I highly recommend using img2icns and Preview to edit the icon
so that the background is transparent.

Problems/minor issues (insights welcome)
There are a couple of issues that need resolving.
These are:

a) I have 2 modes of operation. A slow and a fast (OC) which kicks in only after sleep mode has been enabled and woken. (Power management problem?) FIXED. Moved to a MacPro Profile and added C3/C9 States in Chameleon Wizard.
Processor Score has increased very moderately as well.

b) I am looking for a way of getting HDMI audio via HDMI port on the GTX titan.
Still confused about editing ASIL for this. If someone has a method of doing this let me know.
At present time I have audio via the S/PDIF port on my motherboard and using that instead.

c) Bios works only with HD4000 DVI port not the Titan ports. Any way to make all work together?
FIXED Answer. No it's one or the other.

d) Running into a common problem with the inability to charge iPads in MacOSX but Windows = no problems. Low usb current problems. Won't exceed 900mA per hub, whereas in Windows I can run 2100mA per hub. I can easily run 2100mA from my Macbook pro on one USB hub.

Summary
This is project has been a few months in the making,
and this website has provided me with some excellent reference material for getting my Hackintosh project moving along.
Performance wise I have been hitting (~16780-17000) on a 32bit Geekbench or ~9.65-9.89 on the processor score in Cinebench. Ram bandwidth performance is now ~11,200 @ 1.55v with a Ram performance at ~9860. I am constantly hitting 18686-18750 without much effort.
My bus speed is set at 101.89Mhz in the Bios, this causes the Processor to show 3.56Ghz as it's stock speed and show up as 3.54Ghz in HWmonitor. I don't suggest going over 101.90Mhz in the bios as doing do will cause your system to run in an unstable state. I have personally run into some odd power management behaviour at over 101.90Mhz especially while overclocking mildly.*
Highest score recorded was when using 10.8.2 and got an all time mark of 18900 in 32bit and 9.89 in Cinebench. I have NEVER been able to reproduce this since. (note 10.8.2 gave frequently inflated benchscores)

GTX titan performance is staggering!! It can blast through 2K UHD uncompressed footage in
a very very short time. I'll bench it out for more information.
3D rendering in Cinema 4DXL is more or less instant.
Seriously enjoying this card's performance!

I have made more progress with this build now.
Did some minor tweaking in the Bios settings and tightened my ram up.
Speeds are 11,200 for the ram geekbench.
10,11,11,28 at 1.55V works nicely with Samsung Green Ram 30nm 8GB.

bump.
Please have a look at my build.
Ask questions.

Updated to OSX 10.8.4 and currently experiencing no problems with the install.
I do however have some modifications to do to fully enable my build.

--- putting the details in the post install thread.
Hopefully I can get some kind of answer regarding these problems.

why didn't you go with watercooling? You are running a pretty high overclock. What kind of voltages are you having to run?

I won't go watercooling in a climate like this due to the high humidity in the summer.
Worried about condensation and leaking.
I chose the Noctua NH-D14 due to it's ability to handle overclocking on i7 3770K.
Also after seeing some of the major problems that some people have had with Corsair H series and the like, I'll pass.
Custom water cooling will be great for those of us wanting to run E5/E7s.

So far I have been running my voltages on the processor at 1.35v. My overclock is 4.68Ghz which comes in at 4.65Ghz inside the HW monitor.
My Ram now runs at 2203Mhz with a Cas 10 timing. Score = 18,289 - 18,313. Timing is 10,11,11,28 1T

Ram performance is VERY good! 1.56V on the ram. Actually this is the normal ram operating voltage.

My temps are 34c-36c idle and under load = 50-60c and not much higher. The system is a beast. :headbang:

I am already testing MacOS 10.9.0 Maverics on this computer. Yes. I am a beta tester. :)

Maverics is going to haul arse once it is completely released! I can't wait. It's a drop dead gorgeous system!! Long LOOOONG OVERDUE!
I suspect many windows users will join Apple once they see it. :p :silent:
