Hi.

I've been around for a while now, reading lots of posts about hackintosh and i can't manage to find the good configuration for me...There's too many things to handle!

Let me express my problem and i hope we'll find a solution.

I am a mac user for almost a decade.
I never liked to go to deep in the system, bios and so on cuz i'm not talented with it, that's why i liked mac directly.
No problem of instalation, drivers that instal automaticly.

I am a motion designer working on after effect for 6 years now, and my mac pro quad core was enough until now but it's time to bring some efficiency to my process since i am working also now on cinema 4d, cineware and element 3d.
They're all asks a lot of ressources!

I would use this machine as my main workstation so it has to be fast, and most of all : stable.

I selected few "golden built" that could match that goal, but in the "buyer's guide" almost none of them ( motherboard, cpu, gpu ) are advised...
Does that mean that even if these configuration are not advised they are working perfectly and also can be done by a noob like me?

I think that one of these setup would be great for what i'm looking for:

=> http://www.tonymacx86.com/golden-bu...page-iv-extreme-core-i7-3930k-successful.html

I am also wondering how far i can push the GPU to fit what i want?
( i am thinking about the GeForce GTX 970 Gaming 4G for exemple => http://www.materiel.net/carte-graphique/msi-geforce-gtx-970-gaming-4-go-108480.html )
Will that be really hard to put a card like this one? is it even possible and stable?

Sometime i am also thinking of getting an old mac pro 2010 westmere and only change the gpu if this is even possible.
( like this one for exemple => http://www.leboncoin.fr/informatique/756216407.htm?ca=12_s )

I'm king of lost and would really appreciate if you could show me the way.
I think i told everything...
Thanks a lot for the help!

If a build is listed in the Golden Builds section, it should be fine. The buyers' guide is updated each month, so has the latest compatible parts listed, whereas the Golden Builds would mostly use older parts. Check the date on the post to get an idea of how feasible it might be to use that build (e.g., it would probably be difficult to build a Golden Build from three years ago, as the parts would no longer be available).

Buyer's list vs golden built

Thanks for the answer YWO.

I get what you mean by "the part could not be available anymore", i am experiencing it with the 2 configs i posted.

About the build guide, the problem is that i want to get a CPU with 6 or 8 cores ( in order to have efficient render with all my applications ) and a good GPU like the GTX 970 4gb.

Every parts needs to work perfectly with the other in order to be the most stable and efficient beast as possible.

For the GPU i found on the internet that it is possible to do it, it is compatible on Yosemite thanks to nvidia drivers ( LINK => http://www.tonymacx86.com/graphics/...1-01-maxwell-geforce-gtx-970-980-support.html )

For the CPU i still don't really know which one will be easily bootable with my system and will give his full potential.

Is it a good idea to choose every parts i need on the buyer's guide except for the CPU and the GPU that i would choose by myself?
What should i look for while choosing it?

I am going tomorrow to an informatic shop to get few answers, but i guess they're not use to hackintosh, so i need to define what i can choose.

I am sorry for my english if sometime you don't understand what i mean :)

Thanks for the hand
