Since I did a clean install of Catalina in March, I’m getting occasional but persistent kernel panics. It happens about every other day. It's been difficult to track down since it can happen during simple tasks like previewing photos in Finder or browsing Safari. Machine is put under CPU tasks using Adobe apps but it seems to be fine on that end.

In the beginning, I suspected it might be my aging SSD or RAM, but the fact that I had a stable build for years makes me think it’s not a hardware failure. I would like to know if there's anything standing out in the crash reports or Clover setup.

Specs:
  • Catalina (10.15.4)
  • Intel i7 4790K
  • GA-Z97X-UD5H
  • 16GB of RAM
  • ASUS GTX780

Tweaks I made post installation:
  • Sleep/Wake (kernel patch, followed this)
  • USB 3.0/2.0 (kext patch, followed this)
  • Disabled HDMI audio (to prevent reboot at wake, followed this)

Me trying to solve this:
  • RAM test with MemTest (= stable w/out error for 10+hrs)
  • Geekbench and Cinebench to test stability (= stable with low temp)
  • Updated OS to latest
  • No 3rd party kexts in /L/E

Things I suspect, but have yet to test:
  • Wacom driver 6.3.39-1
  • BIOS settings
  • Some kind of GPU/IGPU issue

Looks like the KPs happen with GPU related processes.

Update Lilu to 1.4.4 and WhateverGreen 1.3.9 (I haven't encountered a single KP with these versions)

Thanks for the input! I got them updated + will update in a few days with results.

Out of curiosity, was there anything in the crash reports that was helpful?

It was. I always save KP reports, as it helps tracking down the culprit (I haven't encountered one for months though)
