I haven't gotten many answers from users with similar builds. Could anyone please let me know if there's any way to fix these panic issues? I've had clean installs before using snow leopard, but haven't used a hackintosh since then. The company I worked for was using imac's and they were sufficient for my needs as a video production specialist. Now with my need for a new build due to an imac's hard drive failing I've built this system.

GA-Z77X-UP5-TH
i7 3770K
GTX 670
2 x 240 GB Samsung Extreme SSD @ Raid 0
1 27' Cinema Display plugged into the HD4000 Thunderbolt port.

This image is one of the kernel panics I get.

Every time I shut down the build it will kernel panic 3-4 times unless I boot into the BIOS/UEFI and Save & Exit to restart. This typically only has a maximum of 1-2 kernel panics allowing me to login. There is typically always a flashing screen before the login screen that seems odd with almost plaid like stripes vertically before the login screen.

If I put the computer to sleep upon waking the sound is always out. No option exists to select the Display Audio via USB.

Upon restart there is usually 1-2 kernel panics and then I can log in with no issues again.

Another thing I've noticed is that I've lost some of my system sounds such as the trash sounds both trashing and empyting.

If you guys have any ideas as to what the problem could be I'd greatly appreciate them. I'm out of answers and my work flow can't afford a complete new restart unless it's absolutely necessary.

Thanks in advance for a response.

maybe try to use old/rollback kexts! I mean I used to have KP due to that.
Reinstall an other version of AppleACPIPlatform (10.6.7), if you did not, and maybe the IOPCIFamily too.
Hope this helps!

Are you using the GTX 670 at all to push any monitors?

You shouldn't be getting any random kernel panics with the right setup, however you need to run OS X Mountain Lion and not Snow Leopard because that is not supported with Ivy Bridge systems.

My suggestions for your BIOS setup are set optimized defaults, then turn off Wake On Lan, and disable Internal CPU PLL Overvoltage.

I have a general installation video in my signature for installing and setting MultiBeast optimization. You can remove darkwake=0 though from org.chameleon.boot.plist.

BeelZeBozo,
His KP screen shows Mac OS 12E55 which is 10.8.4 Mt. Lion.
I also am curious about the GTX670... Perhaps he should try to install with a minimum setup and remove that GPU.

Mr. RicharD,
What MultiBeast settings did you use? Did you use a guide on this site? If so which one? I used this one: http://www.tonymacx86.com/mountain-...nderbolt-updated-10-8-2-multibeast-5-2-a.html

My setup is almost identical to yours and has been running well for 8 months. No KP's since the initial build.

I read that build link you posted and have a few questions about the differences.

dawsman said:
"I chose the Mac Pro 5,1 system definition because I wanted a Mid-2010 Mac Pro in "About this Mac", IMPORTANT: delete the AppleTyMCEDriver.kext otherwise you will get a kernel panic. If left unchecked the default system definition is Mac Pro 3,1, which works fine, and you don't need to delete any kext files."

But I noticed in your KP screen that you are using a Mac Pro 3,1 System Definition. What did you do with this kext?

dawsman also used a device injection in his plist:
"Insert the following device-properties key and string into org.chameleon.boot.plist:"

Did you also? My system works fine without any injection. I have USB3, Audio, Sleep etc... all working.

Hey Bob,

Yes I set it to 3.1 because it said I wouldn't have to find and delete the kext if set to 3.1

As for the injection I originally had it put in, but then as more kp's were happening I reinstalled with the newer Multibeast and no longer needed these.

I'm curious about your recommended install guide with Alfa147. I noticed his bios was an older version as well as the 10.8.2 ML. Were you able to upgrade to 10.8.4 cleanly? If I do this I'm really just trying to figure out where I went wrong in the first place. I've followed the builds pretty much on point excluding selecting the user's exact settings, but only because they've given the option and have found no problems with those options.

I really want to get this right the first time because I don't really have the time to waste.

Is there a build that uses a RAID 0 setup? I've been trying to find a build that is stable with no KP's and with my setup, but I haven't been able to find one just yet. Any suggestions?

I built my machine using 10.8.2 which was the current level at that time. I successfully updated to 10.8.3 and later to 10.8.4 using the App Store update process (with a full backup just in case.)

My BIOS arrived at version 7! Which would not work for beans and I quickly updated to version 11 before I could even get anything to work. I am not using the experimental 12e version.

Let me boot into the BIOS and grab some screenines of my setup and I'll post them here for you.

Here are my BIOS settings:

BIOS Features 1.jpgBIOS Features 2.jpgPeripherals 1.jpgPeripherals 2.jpgPower Management.jpg

I noticed while taking these screenies that I don't have my memory profiles set, I must have "Loaded Defaults" at some time and forgot to re-do that setting. Also, I put some of my SATA ports as "removable" so I can swap out drives (for backup, reading data of old drives etc...) I'll fix those later since my Hack does not need to be at maximum speed but maximum reliability. I only need speed when booting into Win8 to play Battlefield 3!

So as it turns out I just grabbed one of my 1 TB Western Digital HDD and installed 10.8.4 on it. Now when I select it as my boot drive and select the drive from Chimera it boots just fine into my RAID 10.8.5 drive that was really driving me mad. I'd like to eventually get a flawless set up going, but at least I'm able to complete my work load for the moment.

**EDIT** So this no longer applies. I seem to be getting the same KP's now regardless of how I boot. *A few restarts and a save and restart from the BIOS/UEFI allowed me to finally log back in.***

As far as the BIOS settings go I have my RAM at "Turbo" to allow 1600 mhz and I don't think I have "Execute Disable Bit" enabled. I also noticed I don't have Wake on Lan enabled.

Not sure if these settings are all that crucial, but I just took the advice from screenshots and recommended settings threads. I used to have my Internal Graphics set to 64 mb, but have since changed to 32 mb when I used the recommended settings.

At the moment I'd like to get another Apple Cinema display using the GTX670, but haven't been really using it at all. Because I do video and some 3D / special effects I'd like to be able to use the graphics card. I've tried using a mdp to dp adapter, but that failed. Any suggestions on this?
