Hello,

I regularly encounter kernel panics on boot. The backtrace looks like this:

Kernel Extensions in backtrace:
IOUSBFamily
dependency: IOPCIFamily
AppleUSBComposite
depedency: IOUSBFamily

kernel_panic_IOUSB.jpg

Somehow the issue seems to disappear if I select "ignore kernel caches" in the boot menu, although selecting the same option in MultiBeast doesn't have an effect - i.e. UserKernelCache=Yes is not activated.

My hardware:
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD3H
CPU: Intel i5 4670K
RAM: 4 x Kingston Hyper X 4GB PC3-12800 (KHX1600C9D3K4/16GX)
Graphics: NVIDIA EVGA GTX 460
Storage: Samsung SSD 840 EVO 120GB

USB Periphery:
USB Card Reader
Logitech keyboard dongle
Razer mouse

BIOS:
Version F8
AHCI activated
Increased RAM voltage because of intermittent freezes

Multibeast configuration:
Quick Start > DSDT Free
Drivers > Audio > Universal > VoodooHDA
Drivers > Disk > TRIM Enabler > 10.g.x TRIM Patch
Drivers > Misc > FakeSMC v6.0.1123
Drivers > Misc > FakeSMC v6.0.1123 Plugins
Drivers > Misc > FakeSMC v6.0.1123 HWMonitor Application
Drivers > System > AppleRTC Patch for CMOS Reset

So using the boot flag -f gets it to boot up then you need to rebuild the system kext cache with a program like kext wizard on the maintenance tab check rebuild kext cache on system/library/extension and then reboot and see if it fixed it

Thanks, carpentryplus25.

I had tried running the installed Kext Utility, which repairs file system permissions and rebuilds "the system cache files". This might do the same thing. Triggering the option directly in Kext Wizard didn't change the behavior either.

[SOLVED] Kernel Panic in IOUSBFamily/AppleUSBComposite

After trying several "cleanup" maneuvers, I got rid of the kernel panics by uninstalling the logitech control center. It also contained some kernel extensions which could have produced the error.

I have this same issue. It comes sometimes when I have to reboot after my system is stuck after sleep.

Pls, tell me what to do!
