[SOLVED] Ivy Bridge Power Management Kernel Panic

Acer Aspire v5-171-9661
Intel i7-3517u
HM77 chipset
HD4000 1366x768
MacBookAir5,2
Yosemite 10.10.4

I'm attempting to enable power management on an Ivy Bridge machine. I can use Clover to generate p-states and c-states and everything seems fine, but if I attempt to use a SSDT generated by the newest version of ssdtprgen, I get a kernel panic on boot:

I tried both MacBookPro10,2 and MacBookAir5,2 (both have a dual-core i7, and use a HM77 chipset, but the Pro has a 3***M processor, and the Air has a 3***U processor); both panic with the ssdtprgen created ssdt.

An IOReg (with Clover generating C/P-States), the ssdtrpgen ssdt, a patchmatic dump, and my Clover config are attached.

Use -xcpm kernel flag (and KernelPm=true of course).

Use -xcpm kernel flag (and KernelPm=true of course).

Yup, that worked. Greatly appreciated, RehabMan. :)

One thing though: the Clover wiki says that KernelPm=True is for Haswell CPUs. Why does that option work for Ivy Bridge?

Edit: I notice AppleCPUPowerManagement isn't loading anymore. Is that intentional when using XNU Power Management? I don't see anything XNU related in the IOREG

-xcpm is optional for Ivy, not used on real Macs, but useful in certain scenarios.

Reason unknown as to why it is there. Possible that Apple first implemented it for Ivy, but then made it default for Haswell only.

AppleIntelCPU is not used with XCPM.

Awesome; thanks for the info, and thanks again for the help.

I guess this problem isn't solved after all. While p-states appear to function when viewed with Intel Power Gadget, I see this in the system log:

Code:
7/13/15 12:34:30.000 PM kernel[0]: X86PlatformPlugin::setRingTable - AICPM failed to load ring table with status 0x0: Get=0, Load=0, Install=0
7/13/15 12:34:30.000 PM kernel[0]: X86PlatformPlugin::configResourceHandler - Failed to set ring table!
7/13/15 12:34:30.000 PM kernel[0]: X86PlatformShim::sendPStates - pmCPUControl (SETPSTATETABLE) returned 0x12
7/13/15 12:34:30.000 PM kernel[0]: X86PlatformShim::start - Failed to send PStates
7/13/15 12:34:30.000 PM kernel[0]: X86PlatformShim::start - Failed to send stepper

Any ideas?

Download patchmatic: https://bitbucket.org/RehabMan/os-x-maciasl-patchmatic/downloads/RehabMan-patchmatic-2015-0107.zip
Extract the 'patchmatic' binary from the ZIP. Copy it to /usr/bin, such that you have the binary at /usr/bin/patchmatic.

In terminal,
Code:
if [ -d ~/Downloads/RehabMan ]; then rm -R ~/Downloads/RehabMan; fi
mkdir ~/Downloads/RehabMan
cd ~/Downloads/RehabMan
patchmatic -extract

Note: It is easier if you use copy/paste instead of typing the commands manually.

Post contents of Downloads/RehabMan directory (as ZIP).

Also, post ioreg: http://www.tonymacx86.com/audio/58368-guide-how-make-copy-ioreg.html. Please, use the IORegistryExplorer v2.1 attached to the post! DO NOT reply with an ioreg from any other version of IORegistryExplorer.app.

And output from:
Code:
kextstat|grep -y acpiplat
kextstat|grep -y appleintelcpu

Also, post EFI/Clover folder.

Repatch ACPI. Don't drop OEM CPU SSDTs.

Repatch ACPI. Don't drop OEM CPU SSDTs.

I haven't applied any patches to AppleACPIPlatform, I just have -xpcm, KernalPM=true and ASUSAICPUPM=true (which I guess is redundant using xnu cpupm, right?), though I might be misunderstanding.

Setting DropOEM to false made no difference:
