I'm considering moving to VirtualSMC.kext. In the past, this has been paired with VirtualSMC.efi, but now OpenCore includes support so VirtualSMC.efi is no longer needed with OpenCore.

I'm using OcQuirks with Clover r5107 running 10.15.4.

I'm guessing that OcQuirks includes support, so that VirtualSMC.efi is no longer needed or desired, but ... don't know if this is true?

VirtualSMC.efi is part of OpenCore you do not need the driver.
Its status is in the guides
It is not separate driver anymore
.
If you go OpenCore read the guide for your chip set.
