I am looking for a main board with 4 PCIe slots to fill them up with 4 GPUs for 3D rendering (Octane).
It would be nice to get Thunderbolt 3 too.

Is there a board available with these specs, which can be used to build a CustoMac?

X99?

I'm assuming that you want four PCI-E x16 slots. I don't think there is such a beast. (Maybe a dual CPU mobo? https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/Z10PED8_WS/ )

The X99 should be able to do x8/x8/x8/x8 when using a 40 lane CPU. The x99 can do x16, x16/x16, x16/x8/x8, x16/x8/x8/x8 or x8/x8/x8/x8 (with a 40 lane CPU) and the x299 can do x16, x16/x16, x16/x16/x8 (with a 44 lane CPU).

But - the kicker is TB3, isn't it? That should whittle down the field considerably, shouldn't it?

Hmm, I need it for rendering with Octane. Perhaps it is not necessary to have all GPUs with x16.

There are some, like ASRock Z270 Gaming i7. I don't think all 4 will run at x16 simultaneously, though. For the Thunderbolt you will probably need to get an add-in card.

Noob here. It seems that the major sources dried up on Thunderbolt 3 cards. Are more really arriving? Or is this a bad time of year to find MOBOs and Thunderbolt 3 cards that are compatible with each other. I'd settle on a TB 2 card if it would work on a 6700K compatible MOBO.

I found this: (see added picture)
So, something like this, but with modern powerful GPUs.
