Is Intel's onboard HD 3000 supported or not?

I'm confused by posts that seem to contradict one another...

Here:

… and it says the same thing under the 'Mountain Lion Laptop Support' and that is dated 6 days ago (on August 20th):

I've spent quite a bit of time researching a purchase for a HP 4530s and I just now came upon this seeming discrepancy and it sort of stopped me in my tracks. Is Intel's onboard HD 3000 supported or not?

HD3000 is definitely supported.

HD3000 is supported in Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and newer. Intel HD Graphics is not HD3000 or HD4000 - it's the older P55 graphics (1st gen i3/i5/i7) which Apple never supported.

HD 3000 is definitely supported, HD 2000 it's not.

HD 3000 is definitely supported. I used Unibeast to install Mountain Lion on my Dell Inspiron 14r (n4110) laptop - which has a Sandy Bridge Intel HD 3000 GPU - and it recognized it on install. Didn't have to do anything special - recognized out of the box with the vanilla kernel.
