Intel I7 or XEON

First of all, happy new year to everyone!

Now, here is my question:

I want to buy a MAC PRO with the buyer's guide from tonymac to work with audio.
My question is if I can use an intel xeon instead of I7 4.00ghz.

What would be best for me? and, there is compatibility with a hackintosh?

There are Xeon builds out there - check the Golden Builds and User Builds forums for info on their setups.

Skylake Xeon E3 builds should work as good as usual "consumer" i7 builds. They're not any faster than the i7's, as your limited to quad core CPUs.

X99 builds based on Haswell or Broadwell are not officially supported, thus requiring some extra work. You'll find some working builds in the User Builds forum.
