9to5Mac reported that Core X-Series Intel-based iMacs will be coming this September before the release of the iMac Pros which are slated for a December release. This news coincides with Intel's release today of full Intel Core X-Series processor family specs. The new processors will include 12- to 18-core models. See sources for more info.

This shows us that Apple really is serious about staying competitive in the Pro market. The latest Macbook "Pro" was nothing more than just a toy compared to the new Xeon based iMac Pro in December. Apple and Intel have both gotten a wakeup call lately and are responding in an appropriate way. Very good for the hackintosh community.

I'm wondering what the prices of the 8+ Core Xeon based iMac Pro are going to be. Apple stated they will start at $4,999. Then the 2018 Mac Pro. $6,999 ? The high end is getting much higher priced at Apple !

Readers should take this with a grain of salt. 9to5Mac wrote a misleading article. There won't be any Skylake X iMacs in September. The author was only saying, albeit in a confusing way, that Skylake X chips (not iMacs) would be released in September of 2017.

While these new Intel processors are possible candidates for the new iMac Pro and other upcoming desktop Macs, at least one report claimed the new machine could offer server-grade Intel ‘Purley’ processors with an ARM coprocessor.

The latest iMac refresh to Kaby Lake just happened last Spring so it's not likely we'll be getting a non-pro iMac refresh with the Skylake Core X Series chips.
