It's a NVME drive and will work OOB on 10.13 High Sierra or with some tricks on 10.12. Just search for NVME in this forum.
However, don't expect a big performance improvement over something like the Samsung 960 series. Sequential performance is slightly worse and random performance is much better. If you don't have a specific use case for it, though, you likely won't notice the difference enough to justify the price difference.

As far as I know, not all NVMe drives work OOB on 10.13. Some enterprise SSDs can not be recognized such as Samsung SM1715, etc.

I second that. my SM1715 is nowhere to be found in Sierra and High Sierra
