so it turns out i need firewire on my Z97, and it doesn't have it built in. i'm thinking of buying a PCI card, there's quite a few which don't cost much, between £10~30.
is there anything i should know? i'm actually assuming them to be plug-and-play, with the firmware doing all the protocol conversion, but maybe i'm totally wrong?
will i need specific drivers? (i'm on yose 10.3) will i need to redo the install ?
are there any firewire cards recommended for OSX?
(Gb Z97-D3H, 4790k, 10.3)
thank you for your support
edit:
i'm reading http://www.tonymacx86.com/buying-advice/59767-firewire-800-400-card-own-100-compatibility.html
"the firewire card with 100% compatibility", but it's a thread from 2012. i'm ok with spending £50 if necessary. has anything changed in the last 3 years? or is this the card to still own?
BIG EDIT:
ok, i read the thread, i'll get the card. it seems its plug and play so i'll plug it, hopefully it will play.
