Certainly you can. You can install it on any drive the installer disk utility can format.
I installed OS X on a Samsung XP941 mounted on a PCIe card with no problems.

The real question here is : Does the motherboard BIOS support booting from this drive connected this way. To which the answer is - look at your manual.

The answer for me was No - the UEFI did not support booting from PCIe based SSD.:banghead:

hey i was going to ask about that also does it matter what msata you buy? also do you need Trim patch also another 1 i was going to ask is there any difference on speed such as read and write?

An Msata drive is just a SSD that connects using the mobile pci-e connector. The operating system sees it as just another SATA drive. You can even buy an adapter so you can connect a regular data cable in place of a Msata card. The only bad part is on motherboards the Msata will be shared to a Sata 2 port, and so be half the speed. Which is a waste if you are buying a nice high speed Msata SSD.
