installing lion on dell inspiron 620 (desktop)

hi guys

i really need help from some experienced guys out here
i wanna install hackintosh on my dell inspiron 620 desktop
but the problem is that i dont know if my motherboard can run it.
when i'm opening the boot menu i cant switch the bios settings to "AHCI"
so maybe its already AHCI as default or maybe it doesnt matter can someone help me please.

oh and btw: the motherboard brand is "American Megatrends"

AHCI settings won't be in the boot menu.

Check the settings under SATA which could be in the "onboard components" section somewhere. I don't have a dell bios handy so can't remember.

I have made a Hack out of a Dell Optiplex 755 (with Core 2 Duo) so I would say you could probably make one out of an Inspiron.

One thing I would advise is to do all your Hackintosh stuff on a separate Hard Drive from your windows install, and unplug the windows drive while you are doing the Mac install. That way if anything goes wrong with the Hack you can always plug your Windows HD in and get your PC back.

I'm looking to install OSX on a Dell inspiron 620S Desktop too, but no AHCI option there is in Bios.
Up to now , Dell don't releases any bios upgrade to enable ahci ...
So we have to wait or to look for some patched bios to enable it.

On dell Optiplex 755-760 i can confirm that osx can be installed very well.

I have gotten OS X 10.7.3 to install on the Dell Inspiron 620, but only to USB HD. Still trying to get my internal HD and BD-RW to show up. Everything else is working great!!

If you have it to a USB HDD then maybe use Carbon Copy Clone to install onto an internal HDD then just use the bootloader/installer to boot into that drive so you can install Chimera?

I have a Dell Inspiron 630.
The hold up was SATA ports.
I set bios to SATA.
Only the top two SATA ports work normally.
The lower black ports are for RAID 0 only.
The black ports want 2 drives.

There once was someone who said he set bios to raid and succeeded.
His info seemed unreliable.

I ran sys info from Olairio.com and got kexts from kexts.com for audio and network.

You probably already have it running fine by now.
