Anyone has any personal experience to share where:

you went from 14.2 to 17.1 because you thought "oh my skylake cpu will be at home there"
and you saw tangible benefits?

Examples could be: Better power management, no sleep issues, no issues in iCloud or iMessage, ease to overclock, stuff behaving better, skylake exclusive stuff working, I dunno, overall anything GOOD really.

I just did and I'm frustrated.
My power mng seems worse, using Pike's.
About this mac is messed up. I know it's just for show but I feel bad.
Everything else the same and imessage and icloud untested.
Overall stability, same.
Oh, power nap shows up now. great.

If you want to share knowledge/advice on this topic, please do.
I'm just a guy trying to shave the imperfections off my hack on my spare time.

A couple of months ago, I setup a new hackintosh and switched the definition to 17,1 so that I'd feel better when I check About This Mac every couple of days. I ran into some variety of the dual-monitor-on-Nvidia 17,1 issue, but the standard fixes didn't help, probably because one of my 4k monitors is a little screwy. Several hours into debugging the issue and trying to resolve it with a DSDT a valve in my refrigerator burst and water started pouring onto my floor. If imac17,1 had worked as well as 14,2, then I probably would have been asleep and not found out about the leak until the next morning. imac17,1 saved me from several thousands of dollars worth of water damage.

@Lepus48 lmao, I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing really lol
