Hello!

This is probably a stupid question, but I shall ask it anyway.

Basically I was wondering which of the two I need to install Snow Leopard. The blog (http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/04/ ... -x-on.html) states that the 'supported' CPU's are the i Series, however he states he has heard of successes from users with Core2 processors. Does this mean I need iBoot for my Core2Quad CPU or iBoot Legacy - as I guess it is not 'totally' supported.

Here is my setup:
Intel Core2Quad Q8300 @ 2.50GHz
6GB DDR2 RAM (OCZ, 800MHz)
Asus P5Q Pro Motherboard
nVidia GTX 260 GPU 976mb
650w PSU (Corsair TX Series)
Samsung SpinPoint F1 1TB hdd
Corsair Force Series 3 60GB SSD - THIS IS WHAT i PLAN TO INSTALL OSX ON - the drive is brand new
Corsair Force Series 3 60GB SSD (The drive with Windows on)

Any help would be greatly appreciated, just so I can make sure I use the correct version of iBoot..

Thanks,

Dom Cowell

Chimera, it is all of the chameleon trunk brought into a boot loader. It does it all.

Is there a decent walkthrough on Tony's blog for that?

I had been recommended iBoot+MultiBeast on the ease of installation plus that guide that I linked.

Sorry, I am new to putting OSX on a PC - I am simply doing it due to not having the funds at present to spend money on a Mac, but needing access to a couple of Mac programs.

you need iboot, not iboot legacy.

the difference between them is that iboot legacy contains a legacy, or patched, kernel.
this allows support for cpus which apple does not.

your cpu is supported, so you use iboot

Oh I understand now! I thought it meant iBoot legacy was for CPU's that iBoot was not officially made for (eg. every CPU except Intel i Series)

Thank you!

I have another question. I have looked at DSDT's - obviously my board being pre-i Series, there is not a listed one..

What do I do instead?

What about me what one would I use to boot iBoot Legacy or just iboot

Intel Celeron G530 2.4GHz Socket 1155 Box

Gigabyte GA-H61M-D2-B3

Gigabyte GeForce GT430 DDR3 HDMI Dual-DVI 2GB

HYPRER X 4GB 1600MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL9 DIMM
(Kingston)

500w power pack

USB CD/DVD drive

You should try iBoot first since the Celeron G530 is a new CPU.
