Hello all, after previously installing snow leopard on my system, i managed to accidentally delete some very important kexts, causing my system to have a kernel panic, so i decided to re-install linux on my system (I'm on it right now). After about a month, I was ready to try another SL installation, but my optical drive wont detect the iboot cd. I've tried burning a new disc, which also didn't work, and unplugging and plugging back in my optical drive. I would really appreciate some help, I'm a noob...

as to the cd drive - it needs to be sata and you need to set achi in the bios
this link is helpful - http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/04/iboot-multibeast-install-mac-os-x-on.html
Also can the dvd drive read any other media most notable cd's not dvd media they have been known to read one but not the other.
Have you re-burned the file on a cd not a dvd & tried again.
I suggest more info on you hardware please add to your signature block so we see what you are working with, also some info on installing / building a hack per your statement
I'm a noob...

Sorry for that, Just needed to get to the boot options menu, upon startup, and it boots with "PCIRootUID=1" otherwise i get some sort of kernel panic relating to VOODOOHDA, IOPCI...., and IOFAMILY...... I couldn't see the full kexts because of the gray "Shutdown" box...Is there any way to fix this? Could I just get a USB sound card and find the appropriate kext/Driver? I've even tried using a dsdt i found in a forum for a motherboard very similar to mine (mine is dh67bl, theres was a dh67cl). And I'm not able to properly shut down my computer, I know this is a common problem, but I running 10.6.8, so EVoreboot.kext won't work........ Sorry for the sudden mass of problems, im a noob, and thank you for the response :)

if you have the osx install w update helper, Apple update and ran MultiBeast w System Utilities all opts
then the only command line would be
-v -f PCRootUID=1 - this should get you do the desktop so you can do more work -
