Hello,

according to German Magazine c't this CPU needs a special BIOS

http://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/ ... 09800.html

Not only has the BIOS to provide the option to change core frequency, multiplier and core voltage but also multiplier for Turbo-Boost according to used cores:

Basistaktfrequenz, Multiplikator und Kernspannung bietet, sondern auch Zugriff auf die Multiplikatoren für die verschiedenen Turbo-Boost-Stufen – je nach Anzahl der aktiven Kerne – gewährt.

Are there any Gigabyte BIOS out there with this?

Bye

The only special BIOS I know about is Asus's new incorporation of having the user be able to control the new Core i series' turbo boost. Basically that means that you can set the turbo boost and how fast you want it to be. For example:

i7-875K - 2.93 normal clock; 3.6 turbo-boost (I'm making this up)

You can then set the BIOS so that:
All 4 CPU's maxed out: normally 3.2, BIOS setting up to 3.4
Only 2 CPU's maxed out: normally 3.45, BIOS setting up to 3.6
Only 1 CPU maxed out: normally 3.6 with turbo boost, BIOS setting up to 4.2

That's all I know about a special BIOS built for the unlocked series.

Just loaded the F11c BIOS for GA-P55A-UD4P:
F11c 2010/06/18
Beta BIOS
Improve Intel Turbo Boost compatibility

and had a quick look through the M.I.T. settings - nothing struck me as new there. Hopefully have more time to play with this 875 soon.

No change to Geekbench or Cinebench scores.

From what I heard they are internal changes.
