I'll have to do some testing. Can you please post a ioreg from file>save in ioregistryexplorer

I'll do that tonight after work, do I need to do it both with and without CSM?

with and without CSM enabled,
curiously this time with CSM off HDMI was in my settings sound output device but I still get no audio at all,
maybe I just thought it didn't appear the last time I turned CSM off

Just as a side note, your December update files have achieved much better speedStep than i had before and my wattage is down dramatically, this is a 3930k over clocked to 4.8ghz with X.M.P profile 1 with the G.Skill at 2400 but i get drastically lower geekbench scores that your 3930k, 21,773 in GB 4

Is there a reason you want to use the TP-Link card instead of the built in AC WiFi?

For now, remove the TP-Link card. That should get you up and running.

I have the exact same issue and I originally got the TP-link T8E because I could never get the onboard wifi to work. Is there anyone who know of a solution to get the T8E to work with Sierra and this build?

And a big thank you @shilohh for your excellent guides, I've been following them for years and they have helped me a great deal.

Incase anyone has the same issue, I finally managed to get the onboard wifi to work by installing RehabMan's FakePCIID.kext and FakePCIID_Broadcom_WiFi-kext

For the first time since I bought this motherboard (R4BE) almost 3 years ago, I can now use the onboard wifi and put my TP-Link to rest.

@shilohh - I noticed that you have a PNY GTX 980. I am thinking about upgrading one of my GPUs to this or similar card so I can get a bump in Cuda cores for a 3D app I use a lot. Just wondering how hard would this be to upgrade.

I currently have two GTX 760s installed and working fine in slot 1 and 4 with dual monitors. One monitor connected to each card. So if I were to replace my slot 1 GPU, install the Maxwell SSDT-1 instead of the my current Kepler SSDT-1 and then install the Nvidia web driver (is that different than Cuda install?) would this work?

Here is the card I was interested in (hopefully it will be back in stock soon):

Thanks

From what I can tell that will work just fine, the web driver I believe will be used for both cards though, but you might get better performance out of the 760 you are not replacing, The web driver is just a driver made directly by Nvidia versus using the native Apple supplied drivers for the GPU series that they physically built into their hardware, any GPU models apple never put into a real Mac need the web driver to run at full power

If you don't need to do this real soon I'd wait till Nvidia Adds the 1050/1060/1070/1080 GPU's to their web driver then get like a basic 1070 which is available for cheaper then that 980 ti

Well, I had another panic and system rebooted totally on its own while I was working. I am wondering if it is my RAM. I was reading up on the ROG forums regarding memory and OC (though I am not doing any OC with my CPU) and it seems like my brand of memory might be the culprit here.

Code:

I have Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz ram installed. For some reason it is reading as 1333 though. I wonder if this could be problem. Thinking I upgrade to G.skill. 2400mhz.

So then would I be better off replacing both 760 at same time? There isn't a web driver for the 760 from I can tell. As for getting "better performance from the 760" I am not sure what you mean by this.

From what I can tell from the 10 series cards like the 1080, they are better for gaming but not much better then 980 for video editing. Seems to be neck and neck in performance with gpu intensive apps. The 3D app I use is DAZ Studio which uses Iray, so the more Cuda Cores the better I guess. That is also why I am looking at 980 over something like 1070.

I wish I could afford 2 Titans. That would be a rendering dream machine!

ahh yeah sorry, I failed to realize the 760 was not part of the web driver list and that the 980 was, in fact, a TI so the non TI 10 series cards have less cuda cores, however the 1080 TI will have 3328 cores vs the Titan X Pascall having 3584 so you might actually be better off with two 980 ti's for the price of a 1080 ti when they are available and if nvidia ever puts the support in the web drivers.

in order to get your ram to run at its stated speed you may have to enable X.M.P profile in your Asus BIOS, mine runs at 1333 until I enable X.M.P then i get 2400, This IS over clocking your memory even though thats the speed the RAM was sold as having (think of it like the base clock and turbo clock of the CPU, same idea) and it will effect any overclock you have on your CPU but if you do it right you can have both, my memory is at 2400 and my 3930k CPU is at 4.8ghz

Pop your memory out and switch the dimms around and blow out the sockets on the motherboard just to make sure they are fully seated, i had a couple issues like that too
