I have been researching the prospect of dual booting Mountain Lion on this PC ever since I first built it which was only a couple of weeks ago. Before I go ahead and do so I want to ensure that it will work.

System Specs:

CPU: i7 Sandybridge-E 3930K @ 4.6GHz
RAM: 16GB G.Skill Ripjaws Z 1600MHz
GPU: MSI Twinfrozr IV GTX 670
Motherboard: MSI X79A-GD45

Even though this may not be relevant to the current forum, is it possible to dual boot OSX off of a partition? In other words will it not overwrite Windows?

You might want to consider a Gigabyte mobo unless you think the MSI is completely necessary. I haven't heard many reports of X79 builds on this board using MSI boards.

With regard to dual-booting off one drive, it is definitely possible. This guide is a bit old but should work fine: http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2009/11/dual-boot-windows-7-and-os-x-snow.html

I'd personally recommend using separate drives if at all possible. Good luck!
