Do you think that Intel Core i7-2720QM will work fine with OSX? Accroding to several sources on the net, this CPU is used in the 17" MacBook Pro and it also can be installed in our ProBooks, but I didn't found any information about this CPU's compatibility with OSX.

I had a MAcBook Pro 15 with that same processor, works fine with OSX as long as it's not engineer sample.

mine is a Engineer Sample Q154 turns out HDGraphics3000 won't work with full QE/CI
HDMI & Screen resolution is supported

My first probook 4530s with an i5-2430m just died. I ordered a new one from eBay (seller UpgradeKing) with the i7-2720qm. Everything is identical except the processor. I am going to replace the hard drive with the one from my old probook--except I will change the SSDT. Hopefully I have no issues.

It should be here in a week. Oh yeah, this processor should fully support the DDR3-1600 RAM I have. :D

I ordered one of these yesterday. We'll see what this baby can do :)

For the record, im going to Test a i7-2760qm and 16Gb@1600, maybe we will need to patch DSDT to adapt this processors, so ill wait till i received.

If any body here has experience in editing DSDT ill apreciate any help.

Thanks

Ok. Finally got it working and wow am I stoked. I struggled for about 5 hours trying to transfer the installation from my Probook with the i5-2430m to the i7-2720qm. No luck. I changed my SSDTs, DSDTs, and some kexts and still no luck. I even did a reinstall three times with 10.7.4 and the patched kexts and everytime I get the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement kernel panic.

I tried a different route. Clean install 10.7.0 (Restart) --> 10.7.3 Combo Update -->Probook 3.3.0 Installer (selecting 10.7.3 version, F09 BIOS w/o Discrete, and Tools) --> Multibeast 4.5.2 (selecting i7 SSDT and System Utilities) --> Changed SMBIOS to 8,2 --> Edited org.chameleon.boot.plist to remove GenereateC/PStates and add DropSSDT=Yes (Restart) --> Installed FanApp and various other applications.

Running super smooth. Average Geekbench 2.2 for MacBookPro 8,2 with i7-2720qm is around 9700. Added 16 GB DDR3-1333 RAM along with my 256GB Crucial C300 SSD and I am getting:

Keep in mind that I am doing a time machine backup and massive file transfer to get backed up. I was getting in the 9700 range. Check out my scores from Geekbench's website. Profile Inmike02.

Definitely worth the upgrade. I even have a real USB 3.0 blue port which I never had.

Wow, that's really amazing! I've received my i7-2720QM last week, but unfortunately I have no laptop to put it in. Last week my 4330s was sent to the service, because I lost my display (shows only grey background with dark grey artifacts, I think it's the LED panel, there's a perfect picture on both VGA and HDMI ports).

i think you should be getting higher geekbench scores with an i7-2720QM. I have an hp dv6 6186nr with an i7-2670QM (slower processor), which is pretty close to a hp probook and i get around 10275~10375.
