I5-9600k Motherboard compatibility

I’m trying to work on a build to install Catalina but I haven’t bought any of the hardware yet. I wanted to know if an i5-9600K CPU and MSI H310M PRO-M2 Plus motherboard are compatible and would work for Catalina. I read a few places that said you have to update the MB BIOS to get the two working together, and I just don’t want to spend the money before I know they will work without any problems

Don't get that mobo! MSI motherboards don't work very well for Hackintoshes.

@theruck I wouldn't ever ask the motherboard manufacturer if it is Hackintosh compatible (it is one of the WORST things you can do if you're wondering if a motherboard will work in a Hackintosh)!


If you are ok with a 10th gen processor (like an i5 10400), then you should get one of these:

ASUS Prime Z490M-Plus
Gigabyte Z490M Gaming X
ASRock Z490M Pro4

Intel Chipset 300 Series is made for 8th gen and 9th gen Coffee Lake Processors.
