Hi there,

Gathering information for my first hackintosh build and have come to a pre-final list of components, but then I realized I didn't see the i5-8600 (non k) mentioned in the compatible CPU list, nor can I seem to find any build that are not 8600K. Is there a reason for this? Should I get the 8600K instead of the 8600 non K?

I kinda had my heart set on the non K since it's newer, a bit more energy efficient and since I don't intend to overclock the performance is near enough the same.

Please let me know if I'd be making a mistake with the 8600 non k.

Thanks in advance!

(PS this is the complete build-list I've come up with:

Intel Core i5-8600 Boxed € 261,51
Gigabyte Z370-HD3 € 94,-
Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 570 4GD5 (11266-04) € 179,-
Fractal Design Define S € 69,90
Crucial Ballistix Sport LT BLS2C8G4D240FSB € 129,49
Corsair RM650x (2018) € 96,50
Samsung 960 EVO 500GB € 129,-
+ Fenvi t919 bluetooth & wifi )

No reason to expect that the 8600 won't work. If you want to save some money by all means go for the cheaper CPU.

Not being in the Buyer's Guide does not mean it won't work. For example I use Kingston RAM which is never listed here, and they work great. The 8600 is in the same family as the 8400 / 8500 / 8600K and it should also work.

McFearless, have you been tested with the intel core i5-8600 ?

having 650 watts is probably a little too much, BUT! having enough power ressources is a good thing... so nothin to worry about

Your system components are around 300 to 350 watts at max performance so 450 to 500 watts psu should be good.
