Hello,

I have a question: I came into possession of these two processors (i3-530 2.93 GHz LGA1156 and Celeron G1820 2.70 GHz LGA1150), and I don't know which one would work better on MacOS X. One is the LGA1156, the other on LGA1150. I do not have a motherboard (yet) or RAM (which I intend to buy them at your advice). What do you advise me to choose from the two, and what motherboard would go best with the chosen CPU. I think graphical CPU is not supported by any of them, so please suggest a video card as wel (a cheap one, because i do not intend to use it on games).

Currently I own an Intel DG35EC with a E7200 Core 2 Duo 2.53 CPU and a nVidia GeForce 8600GT 512MB video card wich runs Yosemite 10.10.3. Everything works perfect except the audio that needed VoodooHDA (and that's making the sound heaving a bad noise and a low volume. Maybe there is a solution to make the ALC888 (if correct) to work without the VoodooHDA, but i don't know it. So please feel free to advise me on that too).

Conclusion: should I keep the old build (the DG35EC), or should I chose one of the two CPU's mentioned in title and go ahead and buy a motherboard and the memory necessary for that? I also have a Intel 320 Series 160Gb SSD that I plan to use it on the new build (or to install it on the old one if you guys advise that).

Thank you all in advance!
P.S. Please excuse my english

Last I heard the Haswell Celeron and Pentiums will not run Yosemite.
For the i3, you will have a hard time finding a Gigabyte P55 or H55 or maybe Q57 mainboard to go with it anywhere but on the used sites like ebay. You can still get Intel P55 boards on Amazon, but they are harder to get working as you know since you have one.

Haswell Celeron and Pentiums will work in yosemite you need to use clover bootloader fakecpuid and a supported gfx card like the msi R5 230 works OOB. Example the rig i am on now is msi z87-GD65-Gaming/G3258 Pentium/msi R5 230
