Motherboard
asus VIII Hero
CPU
6700k
Graphics
evga gtx 1080
1st PC
cpu: 6770k
mobo: asus VIII Hero
video: evga 1080
ram: 32gb ddr4 corsair dominator

does the drive matter? I have an intel 750 pcie ssd, but ive also got a samsung ssd I could use.

2nd PC
cpu: 3770k
mobo: asus V Formula
video: Asus 980 ti
ram: 32gb ddr3 corsair dominator

As I understand it the gtx 1080 is not supported, but I could swap them if that is the only thing holding me back.
Also, how do I get sierra if I do not have a current OS. Can I purchase mountain lion and install it, then download the update? if so, will mountain lion still work with my hardware?

UPDATE:
it runs on my 1080 through display port but at a low resolution, and everything is really flashy. trying to figure our nvidia drivers for my 980ti on 10.12.3 right now.

You should be able to install macOS on both.

You'll probably have an easier time using the Samsung SSD.

Yes, no drivers for the GTX 1080, so use the GTX 980 Ti.

Easiest way is to look for a friend who has a Mac or hackintosh to help with getting Sierra. The i7 3770K system can probably run Mountain Lion if you want to go that route.

If I use my machine with the gtx1080 will it not run? will I just not be able to use it for hardware acceleration? or can I use the video output from my mobo?

The built-in video should work.
