Hi, I have recently got a 4K monitor (Samsung 28") and I have read that running at 4K puts a lot of strain on the GPU. I have a Nvidia Palit GTX 960 and I have also installed HWMonitor and the FakeSMC plugin which allows me to view the temperatures of the components of my system. However, the GPU temperature fails to show up. Also, the fans on my GPU only spin at start-up, the rest of the time they are off (not spinning at all). I remember when I ran this set up with Windows 7 that the fans only started to spin when the GPU got to a certain temperature, that would only ever happen when I was running GTA 5 at 60fps. Is this normal and is there a way that I can view my GPU temperatures or even control the GPU fans manually? View attachment HWMonitor.tiff This is a screen shot of the HWMonitor menu.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks. :)

Not sure about the temps not showing up but the fans won't spin till the GPU reaches a certain temp in OS X as well. That is controlled by the cards bios.

Thanks. At least I now know that they will start to spin when they need to. :)

One thing is to make sure that you have FakeSMC.kext and all the plugins installed to the /System/Library/Extensions folder. If you are injecting the FakeSMC.kext then it won't show as much information.

What are "all the plugins"? I have the FakeSMC.kext but I am not sure about those other plugins that you mentioned.

Thanks.

Inside FakeSMC.kext there is a plugin folder that should contain the following 4 files:
