It is, but not the best choice. The 4540s has no whitelist. Best choice is BCM94352HMB.

Hello all,

Im having issues with my 4540s not seeing any of my wifi cards I install. My system is El Capitan 10.11.3, i5, 8GB, 1366x768 screen. So far I have tried two different Atheros AR5BHB92 and one BCM943228HMB. None of the cards show up in DPCIManager or any other program. Attached is my IOReg file using v2.1. If anyone has the time to look it over and interpret it for me, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

BCM943228HMB is not supported by OS X.

Perhaps you don't have WiFi enabled in BIOS.

Thank you once again sir, embedded wlan device was unchecked in bios ugh!!! I feel like a complete idiot. I was trying to figure this thing out for several days swapping cards, trying different kexts etc.
