Hi guys,

I'm attempting to install Mavericks on a HP Probook 450 G1 i7.

As per the instructions here (http://www.tonymacx86.com/hp-proboo...-450-g1-osx-mavericks-installation-guide.html) I have done everything asked up to patching the kernel. Each time I try to run the install the laptop reboots almost instantly... On patching the kernel with all the perl codes I can get it to show me a Kernel Panic instead of rebooting straight away but still doesnt help me actually get into the installation.

I have disabled fast boot and Hybrid Graphics.

Any help would be much appreciated.

You must be patching the kernel incorrectly.

But I would recommend you use the Clover guide anyway: http://www.tonymacx86.com/hp-probook-mavericks/112383-guide-install-mavericks-clover-bootloader.html

Hiya,

Thanks for your reply.

I've started following through the guide and I'm up to the point where I'm at the installation screen/disk utility etc. Prior to continuing I do have a windows installation already pre-existing on the drive but I have partitioned off 80gb for the MAC install. However it only seems to want to install if the partition table scheme is GUID wheres its currently MBR. Is there a way I can install MAC and keep the drive a MBR partition scheme?

Cheers.

The OS X installer only supports GPT. Modifying the installer is not supported, per site rules. Please read them: http://www.tonymacx86.com/faq.php

Dual boot without erasing:

Dual boot using Chimera:
- will need to re-install Windows if on the same drive
- OS X requires GPT partitioning and if your Windows is install legacy, it is MBR
- if Windows is installed UEFI, Chimera cannot boot it

Dual boot using Clover:
- you can install OS X provided the following conditions are met: EFI partitition >= 200MB, no MSR partition
- if Windows is installed legacy, you'll have to re-install (or convert to GPT/UEFI) unless on a separate drive (GPT issue mentioned above)
