pastrychef, do you happen to know if your Apple SSD was manufactured by Toshiba? I read that Samsung, SanDisk and Toshiba all made these Apple SSDs, but I've noticed that several adapters out there exclude the Toshibas for some reason; for example:

So I wonder if there might be a firmware issue that is causing the SSD to be undetected by the BIOS. Unfortunately, I can find pretty much nothing about these Toshiba THNSN2256GSPS SSDs -- no specs, no updates, no firmware.

And in case anyone is interested, I was excited about this "power cycling" technique:

because I know the MacBook I pulled this SSD out of had a power failure, but sadly so far it's had no effect.

I had a Samsung.

I think what that chart is listing are the SSDs with certain types of connectors. None should be any more or any less compatible. You can read more about it here.

Thanks for the reply.
Yes that article is quite helpful, and apparently the Samsungs, SanDisks and Toshibas have all been found in the same Apple models, so I assume they all had the same connectors.
I'm just grasping for any last hope before giving up on this SSD!

***FIXED***

Hey guys. Has anyone managed to get the sd card header to work and be recognised? I want to use it as a usb header for my WiFi/Bluetooth card. I had it show up once for the Bluetooth but subsequently disappeared after a reboot. I made a custom ssdt for the usbs but after reboot it doesn’t show anymore.

Any ideas?

Just in case anyone finds their way here regarding getting Toshiba SSDs from Apple to work in an HP Elitedesk 800 G2, I am happy to say that this M.2 PCIe adapter:

For XP941 M6e 960 Adapter NVME AHCI SSD To PCI-E 3.0 16x X4 Convenient Super

coupled with this Apple-to-M.2 adapter:

New M.2 NGFF X4 Adapter Card To 2013 2014 2015 Apple MacBook Air A1465 A1466 SSD

worked for me. I have no idea why, when the previous two adapters I tried (see thread above) did not, but with this combination the Toshiba SSD is detected and bootable.

Hey guys,

mods, if this is in the wrong topic or should be deleted, feel free or let me know.

I have made an adapter for the EliteDesk 800 G2 Tower to allow for an aftermarket PSU to be installed and thus an upgraded GPU.

There are a few forums around the internet that discuss this and using information from each I have managed to make an adapter that does away with all issues. The first being the need to link pin #16 to ground to run the PSU constantly and the second is to get around an error at start up that requires F1 to be pressed each time.

If this is something that people would be interested in then PM me and I can try my best to explain what I've done.

This isn't all my own work as I mentioned. Many thanks to those on the other forums

Hi!

I have created a very detailed guide on installing mojave on my 'HP EliteDesk 800 G2 TWR i7-6700'. It is located on github along with all the files @ sakoula/HP-EliteDesk-800-G2-6700 .

I am currently using two monitors on my setup out of the stock HD530 (Display Ports) by just doing some Framebuffer patching on 10.14.2. I will update the guide once I am not having any side effects. The guide as it is, is working fine for one monitor.

I have also did some ACPI HotPatching in order to be 'hackintosh friendly'. My way of patching things are a bit different of what is being used in this thread. I am still learning here and I tried to keep the guide as simple as possible but also justify all the moves that I have made.

BTW why don't we move the thread under mojave?

Let me know if you have any issue or question.

@sakoula i am unable to reply to your DM unfortunately. I am indeed able to run a powered GPU using the the adapter I mentioned above. I shall make a diagram and description for you once I get home and post it here. I am currently running a 1000w psu in my Elitedesk 800 G2 TWR powering an MSI R9 390 (unfortunately the card doesn’t want to work on Mojave though)
