I don't know what changed and that's the missing link. If we can figure out what changed specifically with sleep wake between El Capitan and Mojave then I believe the answer will be discovered. I'm not a pro at html or web design but I've solved major issues with my own website by asking simple questions and then using trial and error and taking a long look at the code until I cracked the problem. I'm just out of trial options to fix this problem. If you (Rehabman) know where to look for what triggers the display to come on with an image in El Capitan and then look at what triggers the display to come on in Mojave the answer may lie in any changes that happened there when Apple upgraded the software. Did they change the code so that a different "display on" message is needed? I'm probably not using the correct terminology but that is where the issue lies. That "switch" or "message" is not getting properly triggered or sent for whatever reason be it a kext a patch or some other underlying issue. I have no idea how to troubleshoot this or diagnose it. I just know that it can't be a hardware failure so it has to be in the "code" or software, patches or kexts, clover, boot arguments, bios or something related. It could be a complex fix but I would not be surprised if it's just a simple line of code somewhere that's incorrect for Mojave and the EliteBook specifically since no one else seems to be experiencing this issue and reporting it. The fact that that other user has the same issue corroborates my belief that this is not hardware failure related.
