11-28-17 Newegg.com Has 15 more of these in stock if you missed out the first time. The difference now is that you must select Windows 10 Pro as your OS. That increases the price by $22 as they have to buy a product key from MS. If you select Windows 7 it will show as out of stock.

If you look at the lowest cost Kaby Lake I5 (7400) it sells for an average of $184 USD. You can buy one of these 8300s with an I5-3470 and 4GB of ram for about $115 total cost right now. Really an incredible value for such a highly compatible with macOS system that also runs Windows 7 or 10 Pro. Add in a GTX 1050 or 1050 Ti and you've got a superb budget gaming system in the $250 to $280 range. If you don't game and you just need a general use system add an MSI LP GT710 card you've got a Sierra /High Sierra capable system for around $150 which is about 30 dollars less than what you'll pay for the i5-7400 in a new Kaby Lake build. Here's a link to the Sierra installation guide:

You can also get it CTO with 16GB of ram and a 1TB HDD for $250. A good value considering what a 16GB ram kit costs today. Over about $140 USD. Revive IT will charge state sales tax if you live in either TN or AZ.

It's worth paying a little more for these on Newegg than buying most of the under $100 refurbs on Ebay. Those often have dents and scratches and scuffs and are full of dust. You get a product in better condition that has been fully checked out. The one year warranty is nice to have too.

These are really selling fast at this price. Still over 150 available at Newegg. They will probably be out of stock within a weeks time or less. This i5-3470 model is selling at less than 10% of it's retail price when new, unused. The ones I've bought refurbished have all been in good cosmetic and working condition. Should get at least 3-5 years or more of use out of one. The 8GB/500GB version of this Core i5 8300 has been the #1 best selling Desktop PC on Amazon.com for many months now. That generally sells for around 190 USD there.

If you don't want Win7 on your HP you can always download the current Win 10 Pro Iso from Microsoft and clean install it on the PC. When the installer asks for the Product Key enter the one for Win7 Pro on the sticker on the case. It will fully activate and you won't have to pay the 100 dollar + fee for Win10 Pro. Then you can still customize your desktop and the annoying watermark is removed too. Who still pays for operating systems in late 2017 anyway ??

Here's the slot where your graphics card will go. You should still have room for a LP wifi and BT card in the x1 slot.

In the last 3 days Newegg has sold about 120 of these. So at that rate they'll be gone in just over 2 days from now or Nov. 13th.
100 left as of right now. Great opportunity for a first Hackintosh on a budget or as a secondary machine to use like a living room HTPC (GT710) / gaming console. (with a GTX 1050 Ti)

UPDATE: Newegg is now showing 165 of these in stock as of 11-14-17 so no worries about supply. You can sit on the fence a little longer.

11/18/17 UPDATE: Now stock at Newegg is down to 76 of these. Still selling quite fast at this price.

I'm seriously considering this as a budget gaming rig and a first time Hackintosh build. Are you guys sure about how well it would perform with the MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti installed? FPS info? I'm a nervous first time buyer!

Which games do you play most ?

Which games do you play most ?
War of Thunder, Minecraft, but looking to expand. For comparison, I'm running a iMac (27-inch, Late 2013), 3.5 Core i7,
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB, with 24 GB 1600 MHz DDR3.

No problem if you play at 1080p. When you dual boot with Windows any game will run better than running it in MacOS. That's what makes the most difference.

Would the i7 version work just as well ?

Just over 50 left of these as of 11-19 at 9:45 PM. If you can live with 8GB of ram spend the extra 25 dollars to get the second 4GB module added. With ram prices sky high these days that will also save you some money. These do have a full warranty on the hardware so if the ram would prove defective you get a free replacement. If you need 16GB or even 32GB of ram I'd suggest you purchase a new DDR3 1600 MHz kit of compatible ram. Then remove the 4GB module that comes with it and keep as a backup.
