    Comments

Hello, I have successfully installed OS-X Mavericks, Yosemite, El Captain and MacOS Sierra on an HP 6000 and 6300 Pro Mini tower desktop computer. These computers have the following hardware components

    Intel - Pentium, Core-2-duo, Core-2-Quad, i3, i5 , i7 CPU's
    Chipset - Intel Q43 ( 6000 pro ) and Intel Q75 ( 6300 Pro ).
    Audio Chip - ( HP 6000 - Realtek ALC 261 ) ( HP 6300 - Realtek ALC 221 )
    Memory , 16gb - 32gb. ( HP 6000 - DDR3 1600, PC3-10600u ) and
    ( HP-6300 - PC3-12800u or Standard PC3-12800 ) 240 pin Dimms ( 4 dimm slots )
Hard-drives 6gb and 3gb. Sata ports. 4 SATA ports for up to 4 SATA drives.
    DVD Burner
    (1) PCIe 16x slot ( Graphics card slot ).
    (2) PCIe express slots
    (1) PCI slot
    (10) USB ports, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0
    (1) Display port
PS2 ports optional for keyboards and mice however not required. You can use USB mouse and keyboards.
    (1) gigabit Intel Ethernet port.
Power Supply = 320 watt ATX.

    HP 6300 full spec here:
    http://www.itlink.lk/specifications/6300 dos.pdf

    HP 6000 full specs here:
    https://h10057.www1.hp.com/ecomcat/hpcatalog/specs/provisioner/05/VN786ET.htm

I recommend the HP 6300 over the HP 6000 if you can find one. The 6300 is NEWER with faster hardware components. However the HP 6000 with Intel Core-2-Duo or Intel Core-2-Quad CPU also makes a good hackintosh. These computers also run very quite.

These computers are very easy to install OS-X on. I used Clover boot loader with no boot arguments. However also works Vanilla with Chimera and Chameleon boot loaders.

    Successful Known working Computer Builds:
HP 6000/6300 Pro with Intel Pentium/Core2Duo/Core2Quad/i3/i5/i7
    Memory = 2gb. up 32gb.
    Hard Drive = ( 60gb. Sata-3, 6gb. Hard-drive or larger ) or ( SSD 60gb. )
Optical drive = DVD-RW Burner or LG Blu-Ray Burner.
Graphics = Nvidia GT 610 for El Capitan
Graphics = Zotac Nvidia GT 710 for MacOS Sierra
Audio = Sabrent USB Audio adapter or Behringer UCA202 Audio interface.
    Bluetooth = IOgear USB
    WiFi-ac = ( Apple Broadcom PCIe BCM94360CD ) or ( TP-link 4800 PCIe ).
    SD Card Reader
    Webcam = Logitech C270
    USB PC Keyboard and mouse.

    BIOS options:
Update to latest BIOS vision. In BIOS setting select:
Default boot options and then select
    Secure boot = Disable
Storage > SATA Emulation = AHCI
Security > System Security > Virtualization Technology Directed I/O (VTd) = Disabled
Display post boot messages = On
SATA drive options = AHCI ON
Serial Port = Disable / Hidden
Parallel Port = Disable / Hidden
    Turbo = Enabled
    Integrated Video = Disabled
    Multi-Processor = Enabled
    Hyperthreading = Enabled

For Single boot computer. You can use a 60GB. of larger hard-drive or SSD.

For Dual Boot with OS-X and MS Windows 7 or 10
Used Clover boot loader with no boot arguments.
However also works Vanilla with Chimera and Chameleon boot loaders.

    You can use a single 200GB. hard-drive with two partitions. (1 partition OS-X) (2 partition Dos ).
Install OS-X on first partition with Clover boot loader and then install MS-Windows on second partition with NO added bootloader.

    Or

    Use 2 boot drives ( 120GB. SSD ) and 2 storage drives ( Seagate Barracuda 1TB. )
One of each for OS X and MS Windows.

Install OS X on boot drive #1 with Clover boot loader.
Make Drive #1 your primary boot drive.
From Clover boot loader you can select to boot OS X or MS Windows.

    Installation went Vanilla.

For Dual boot System install Operating systems on 1 drive at a time and then attach all the hard-drives last.
    e.g
    1) Install OS X on boot drive #1 with Clover bootloader. Then remove drive.
    2) Install MS Windows on boot drive #2
    3) Attach all the drives
    4) Make OS-X your primary boot drive in bios.
    5) Partition and format your storage drives. 1 for OS X and 1 for Windows.

Just follow the tonymacx86 installation guides:
    http://www.tonymacx86.com/basics/104542-im-new-everything-where-do-i-start.html

    El Capitan install guide:
    http://www.tonymacx86.com/el-capita...-el-capitan-any-supported-intel-based-pc.html

    MacOS Sierra install guide:

When creating boot install USB pen-drive use the following:

For HP 6000/8000 use Legacy and MBR method as these computers only support bios mode.

For HP 6300 / 8300 use UEFI and GUID method as these computers support UEFI mode.

For MultiBeast use DTS Free option.

For Intel Graphics in Clover config.plist
Select to "inject Intel" under "Graphics section".

For Nvidia GT 610 Graphics card do the following

Run Clover Configurator and load the config.plist.
In the Boot section, Select nvda_drv=1.
In the Graphics section, Deselect Inject Intel and clear 0D220003 from ig-platform-id.
In Graphics section, inject Nvidia drivers
Save the config.plist and quit Clover Configurator.

    Use System definitions - iMac13,1 or iMac13,2

I used Clover bootloader and an Nvidia GT610 or GT170 graphics card.

    Edit EFI/Clover/config.plist:
    Setting Clover EFI/config.plist
    Select kext-dev-mode=1
    Select nvda_drv=1
    Inject Nvidia
    Set csr-active-config 0x67

    Open Clover configurator
    Mount the EFI
    Copy FakeSMC.kext, NullCPUPowermanagement.kext, AppleIntelE1000e.kext into EFI/Clover/kexts/10.11.

End of building USB install drive

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

    Post install

For iMessage and Facetime I followed this post and steps on how to configure the clover config.plist SMBIOS section with Serial Numbers. Used SimpleMLB.sh
    https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/an-idiots-guide-to-imessage.196827/

For SSD's open terminal and enter following command:
    PHP:
     sudo trimforce enable
Generate an ssdt.aml for your CPU:
    Use Alpha's ssdtPRGen.sh utility.GitHub - Piker-Alpha/ssdtPRGen.sh: Script to generate a SSDT for Power Management )
to create an ssdt.aml for your CPU.
Mount your EFI folder using "EFI mounter" and copy the ssdt.aml file to /EFI/ACPI/patched/. (Note: You will need to create your own for your specific CPU ).

    Everything works: Sleep/Wake/Power-OFF/Ethernet/Audio/USB/Bluetooth/iMessage/Facetime/SSD/WiFi-ac/Nvidia 610 Graphics/Nvidia GTX 750ti Graphics/HDMI/DVI/Blu-Ray Burner/DVD Burner/SD Card Reader/Sound Blaster Sound Cards/Tos-link Optical Digital/Webcam/Microphone/etc.

What does not Work ( Important ! )
Motherboard Onboard Display port does not work. You have to use a dedicated graphics card like the Nvidia GT-610 or GT710 PCIe. Otherwise your installation will fail. VGA is not supported in OSX.

Thanks to the Tonymacx86 community for all there help, info and guides.

    Geekbench 12,000

This adds up to about $25 for 8hrs x 365 days on the HP 6300/8300 SFF
At 12-cents a Kilowatt hour at full load for 8 hrs a day.
Most will use less than half of this so about $5 - $10 a year in energy consumption.

Sounds like a question for the "El Capitan install support" forum.

I have several HP 6300 and have never had a problem installing Yosemite or El Capitan with no boot flags and clover boot loader. You need the latest Clover boot loader for El Capitan. Yosemite is easier to to install than El Capitan with Clover boot loader.
However I always use Nvidia GT-610 graphics cards.
I am not a Clover boot loader expert. However your problems appear to be with Bios settings or Clover config.plist settings.

When you built your Unibeast install Stick did you select "UEFI" and "Intel Graphics" support?

    Bios options:

Update to latest bios revision. ( Important ) !....
Bios version 2.99 is the latest for HP 6300 Pro

    In bios setting select:
    1) Default boot options
    and then select
    1) Secure boot = Disable
    2) Display post boot messages = On
    3) Sata drive options = AHCI ON
    4) you may have to disable VT-d ?...

Install Clover configurator app. on a working OS-X computer.
    mount your install stick.
mount the EFI folder on your install stick with Clover configurator.
Open Clover config.plist on your Install stick.
Open config.plist with "Clover configurator app"
Select to "Inject Intel drivers" ( In Graphics section )
    leave all else as default.
    Save and exit

Like I said, I am not a Clover boot loader expert.
I think your problem is with the Clover config.plist settings for ivy bridge CPU intel graphics.
I have never been able to get the Intel Display port to work properly that is why I use the Nvidia GT 610 graphics cards. They work Vanilla with OS-X. The 610 is a very easy solution for installing OS-X. I use the HDMI port on the Nvidia 610 an I use a 32-inch TV as a Display. However if you need the Display port connection I suggest you post the question on "El Capitan installation support forum". They should be able to answer your question as to how to configure the Clover config.plist for use with Intel ivy bridge CPU and Display port. I understand Display port is the best graphics to display connection however, I have never been able to get it to work. Please post your solution when you get it working.

Attached is my working Clover boot loader EFI folder for HP 6300 with Nvidia GT 610 graphics card.

On further research, I read that the HP 6300 onboard Display port is not supported in OS-X.

You will need to use a dedicated graphics card like the

    Nvidia GT 610 / 620 / 740 / or GTX 745 or 750ti.

    I use the 610

If you need Display port then use an Nvidia graphics card like the GTX 750ti

Hello corei3cpu. On your HP 6300 Mini tower Computer with Intel i3 CPU system, do you have problems playing DRM content from iTunes or QuickTime Player. I would like to get a system like yours, but want to make sure there's no problem with DRM content. I've read that ivy bridge and above processors have problems playing back DRM content. Thanks

The prices on these guys have gone up quite a bit. Pretty hard to find a reliable seller with an i3 under $150. Are there any other low cost prebuilts that are compatible right now? Or are these still the best?
