How to Roll back AppleHDA to original kext (10.9.4)

If I copy over the AppleHDA kext from my Macbook Pro Retina (10.9.4) I get that the kext was not installed properly.

Back then I had to use kext utility to install kexts, but I think that changed for 10.9, didn't it?

Used Time Machine to restore an older vanilla 10.9.4 AppleHDA.kext.
Used DPCIManager.app to Rebuild kextcache.
System Profiler shows as original Apple again.
