Hello,

I decided to install a second ethernet card .I've a spare D-Link DFE-530TX (DL10028) lying around

which my yosemite refuses to even detect.

Is there any procedure to install secondary card?
Are there any recommended ethernet cards that I can procure?

I'm using 10.10.3

If Yosemite doesn't detect it, it's probably because the card isn't supported - it uses a Via Rhine chip. Besides, it's PCI, not PCIe.

If you want one that will work OOB, you'd be better off with a PCIe card with an Intel Gigabit or Pro/100, Marvell 88e8xxx, Atheros AR81xx, or Realtek RTL81xx chip. Some options:

Sonnet Presto Gigabit Pro $49.00: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IA94IRY
IOCrest SI-PEX24038 $12.00: http://www.amazon.com/IO-Crest-PCI-Express-Components-SI-PEX24038/dp/B00KMXW7T2
Syba SD-PEX24009 $12.00: http://www.amazon.com/Syba-Gigabit-PCI-Express-Components-SD-PEX24009/dp/B004M18EEC
