How To Install OS X Yosemite Using Clover

Are ser. #s 4 & 5 the same or is it on the line above? I couldn't tell from the attachment and the post didn't say. I'm just trying to get into the app store. I've read your recents about iMessage and FaceTime but need an smbios setup.

Hi,
I have all installed, now solving problem with ALC662 and sleep.
1. I can go to sleep, but after wakeup I see only 1/4 of the screen, and 3/4 of the screen is black. I have solved this on Chimera with ForceHPET. How to solve this on clover?
2. I can't see my onboard audio ALC662

thanks

Hi! Please help me - I've install 10.10.2 accoring this guide, and have one trouble.
When I boot from USB, then start installed system - it's Ok.
But when I boot from EFI partition w/o -v, I have bootloop. With -v (verbose mode) I have near normal boot, but everytime with “Your computer restarted because of a problem” message.

Wow, I actually got most everything to work using this Clover method!

The only thing I'm missing now is my audio. I'm kind of at a loss. I didn't really see any settings for audio anywhere in the guide. What do I need to do to get audio? I'm not using hdmi, so analog is all I need.

How To Install OS X Yosemite Using Clover - Success, mostly

Anyone else finding that VMWare Fusion loses network connectivity with this install? I'm running a GA-Z77N-Wifi, i5-3570K, GT740SC, Using Clover v2.3k_r3185, system Def MacPro3,1, and RealtekRTL81xx.kext for network. Worked fine under a Yosemite 10.10.2 multibeast setup with the same hardware, w/o the GT740, running IGFX.

I've gotten most everything else working that I care about, HDMI/Audio via the GT740SC, etc.
Followed install guide, had trouble installing Clover, did some research and found that Yosemite changed the boot volume over to CoreStorage, and Clover seems to hate it. Did diskutil cs revert and Clover installed fine. I then used toleda's Audio - Realtek ALC AppleHDA Guide and ran Step 3. cloverALC/Clover patched. I chose Audio_ID: 3 during the setup. I then copied the kext mentioned here, Rebooted and had full HDMI.

I don't use FaceTime or Messages, but iCloud works fine (as long as you use the correct system def for your hardware).

Last 2 big issues to work out are a kernel panic at shutdown/reboot and this VMWare fusion thing. Considering that I use windows for some telescope control progs and gaming, the VMWare problem could be a deal breaker if I can't get it to work. I'll post back with what I find, and if anyone else is experiencing this - you aren't alone.

Thanks for another great guide!

EDIT #1: I got both issues knocked out with one swing. Boot logs pointed to the nvdia driver, supported by this link from the Clover sourceforge page discussions: Reboot instead of shutdown with yosemite. This post here on tonymac, Can't Restart/Shutdown Yosemite After EVGA GT740 Install - I changed my sys def from MacPro3,1 to iMac12,2 and restarted. Shutdown/Restart work fine now, the VMWare networking issue is gone now, and boot logs are clean. Hope this helps anyone looking at the same prob.

EDIT #2: Alright, system worked fine for a few days then booted to no video through HDMI or DVI. I moved back over to the IGFX and installed the Yosemite 10.10.2 web drivers. Luckily I hadn't applied the security update yet, so I had no problems with the installation. After the install, I shut down, moved back over to the HDMI on the GT 740SC, booted into Clover options and checked to ensure that nvda_drv=1 was added to the boot flags, and it was automatically added, and booted successfully with Yosemite 10.10.2 on HDMI. Only problem now is no HDMI Audio, but just ran an optical over to the stereo and I'm up and running. I guess the author of the kext is aware of lack of HDMI with the new web drivers. May be another way to fix it, but I'm fine right now with the optical and I'm tired of messing with it for now. On top of that, the system actually recognizes the card by name now. I've gone through a serious of shutdowns and restarts, all w/o error. We'll see if this lasts longer than the last time.

Are you having issues with reboot, too? I posted here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/general-h...ele1000e-kext-causes-incomplete-restarts.html

Sounds very similar to what I'm seeing.

Are you using the apple nvdia driver, or the web drivers? One of the things I was going to try for the restart/shutdown problem was to dump the stock driver, and install the web drivers. I located a post/trouble ticket from a few months ago on the Clover forum on sourceforge stating that's how they fixed the screwed up restart/shutdown. I'll try it after I've rested some, need to sleep for a few days...heh. If you are using the stock nvida drivers, this will give you something to try.

Good Luck!

Hi Guys,

I've recently made the change to clover and so far I like it better. Previously was using the Unibeast/Multibeast thing. I also updated my bios to Uefi and I'm having issues overclocking as well as getting my ram to be recognized. In my "About this Mac" area my ram shows "32gb ???" It doesn't know the speed. Also I can't for the life of me get my CPU overclocked. Previously I could just adjust the clock speed and the "About this Mac" area would adjust to should the speed. Now it never changes so I don't know it it's worked or not.

I've been using clover Configurator to try and get it working with no luck. I've also searched the forums well with no finding though I'm sure someone will find something I missed.

Any advise?

Thank you for the detailed guide, I am only having trouble with one thing as of now and would love some feedback.

The only way I was able to get my USB drive to be read by my ASRock motherboard was by formatting it not as GUID, but as a master boot record. From here, I was able to boot to my USB, and complete the Yosemite install as described in this guide.

After doing the post installation, I have been unable to boot directly to my newly installed Yosemite install. The only way I can get to my Yosemite install is if I have the original USB inserted.

Any thoughts on how I can fix this? I have attempted many different combinations of clover's post install, and am thinking it has something to do with the fact that I originally had to have my USB formatted as MBR, and not GUID.

Thank you.

I had the web drivers installed for a little while, but it was when I had migrated from Unibeast to Clover. I haven't installed them since I did this complete vanilla install using Clover only.

Did using Nvidia web driver fix it for you?

Can you point me to the sourceforge post you found?
