Hi everyone. I'm new to the Forum. I'm Roberto from italy and it's my first hackintosh built.
As title says i'm wondering how to know the network and lan names of my motherboard as i need them during installation.
Those names are currently listed in tonymac buyer's guide for most mobos but not for mine: Gigabyte b250N phoenix wifi.
I don't find them on gigabyte's website (found only audio but not network and lan):

Thank you for help

As a general rule the WiFi/BT radios that come on Gigabyte motherboard are not compatible with masOX.

You have choices of how and when to ugrade to something that is compatible. Be sure to use the search function and insure the technology that you buy is supported on your motherboard.

Thank you for help Neil. Is there a thread were i can read about this topic? As i've just bought the motherboard i can give it back and change it with another mini itx one with working wifi.
I tried to use search but i think i'm not using the right keywords.
Thank you again

Rob,

I personally do not know of any Sky Lake or Kaby Lake motherboard that comes with a macOS compatible WiFi/BT radio. This generation of WiFi/BT solutions are usually delivered in a "E key M.2" socket with an Intel or other radio installed which works with Windows but not macOS.

I have changed out three motherboard radios with the BCM94352Z radio. See
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/bcm94352z-installed-on-asus-z170i-pro-gaming-wifi-and-bt.191274/

And more recently with a BCM94360CS2 radio (and adapter card). See
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/neilharts-s4-mini-nfc-project.216616/

The latter is the better solution in my opinion but does require importing the parts from China which took about 10 days as I recall. I have another set of parts on order as a hedge for some future conversion.

Good modding,
neil
