Looking forward to trying this as I can only boot from iboot and not the HDD. I have the PCI Config Begin problem. I'll keep you all posted.

Worked for me also! I've been following different guides for 2 weeks with no success. Now I have 10.6.8 and everything working!

I asked tony to make it a sticky but got no answer from him

I think this should be a sticky if only for a couple of month.

the apple logo and spinning thing disappears after about 20 seconds of it and then I wait a couple of minutes and hole the power button but not until it turns off and the after a couple of seconds I hit the power button again and it shuts off, I then instantly hit the power button again and the OS 10.6.8 desktop comes straight up and my hackintosh runs like normal...will this guide fix my problem? any help is appreciated A LOT! :D

It should as this was the same problem that I had when I used it.

This is confirmed not to work on the Acer Aspire 4743G hackintosh. First of all, you need to run Tony's UpdateHelper and then reboot before running the 10.6.8 combo update. Otherwise you will get a KP due to a bug in IoPlatformPluginFamily.kext. After I do that before installing the update, and then follow your instructions, my laptop hangs at IOUSBFamily...

Please advice

EDIT:
I have fixed it now. See my post in this thread:
