.... There is no step 8 and 9 in section 5e.....

@Draven,

Try refreshing your browser cache, I updated Section-5e last week with a new 12 step fail safe method.

Cheers
Jay

My hack had been working perfectly for a long time, but iMessage started showing the "contact customer support, here's a code" message a few days ago. I used the website to have them call me. They called back within a few seconds, and after a minute or two I was connected to a really friendly guy who sorted it all out quickly. Total time under 5 minutes. They did not ask for my serial #, although I have a real Macbook anyway. Anyway, if you're getting that message, call Apple. They'll sort you out.

i had this issue and how i fixed it was by changing my Serial Number and using a Genuine Serial Number i took it off my sisters iMac 2013 as she never uses it and i changed my SMBIOS and made sure the UUID matches the System Diffintion and by doing this my iMessage and FaceTime worked straight away after putting FileNVRAM in my extra modules and bam it worked for me

Ah, there we go. :)

I did all the steps, nothing needed to be changed and it's still giving the error "so and so is not registered with iMessage".

@Draven,

That still sounds like a iMessage packet authentication issue, check your console log and see if there are iChat/iMessage authentication errors, if so the contacts will be red. This problem is always caused by an invalid or miss-matched ID, OSX S/N, SystemType, Invalid UUID / MLB / ROM. recheck that all are correct and persistent if not you must resolve that issue. I'm sure you will find something is invalid.

Once your happy perform all of Step 4 followed by Step 5e

Good Luck
Cheers

The I am using the SystemDef 13,1, MLB & ROM are the same on reboot, NVRAM UUID matches system-id, S/N is valid.

Here is the console log when I open iMessage:

@Draven,

I'd stop and investigate those XPCService errors, a (very) quick search shows that they could be something to do with a Trojan ...

I've checked all my systems and i don't have any errors or references to 'XPCService'

Suggest you give Sophos a go, i use it on all my systems ... low overhead and free

Cheers
Jay

I received a customer code - checked every step of this guide. (Using Clover)

Called AppleCare, problem solved.

Thanks!

Jaymonkey, thank you so much for this guide!

I had the infamous "contact apple" popup after reinstalling network driver and new version of Clover, but was able to remedy the situation by following your guide.

"No threats found" :(

I'm really at a loss here. Everything should be valid.
It is running 10.9.2 so I'll upgrade it to 10.9.5, not sure which version of Chimera it's running (working on it remotely so I can't check) so I'll install Chimera v3.0.1 just in case.

I'll also change the password to the Apple ID which worked in the past but only last a day or two and went back to the same error. Maybe now that everything is valid it will stick this time.
