I suppose that the common is the usage of network cards with native support.
How do you like it?

And I'm pretty sure that problem lies in magic Chameleon's generated keys in smbios.plist
like SMSerial or SMboardproduct or NVRAM module when processing particular hardware.

So I also have the GA-Z77X-UP5-TH, is that the common denominator?

So I also have the GA-Z77X-UP5-TH, is that the common denominator? Anyone with a different motherboard having the same problem?
Not only GA-Z77X-UP5-TH. I have ASRock Z87E-ITX.

I don't think so. This issue is present with both Chameleon and Clover.

I got the problem too. App Store works, iMessage shows all contacts as unregistered.

My system runs on "Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP5-TH". Actually it was working last week, and my system was running over the weekend. So it just stopped working even without any change on my side.

You can add me to the list as well. Just stopped working couple days ago, went through every item in the guide and no joy. Have spent hours and hours on it. Everybody comes up red... "not registered with iMessage". Everything else works fine (app store, etc). My iPhone works fine so real devices are on account, and sending to (or trying to now I guess) real devices.

Hey Guys,

Since many of you who are seeing this latest issue own Gigabyte UP5-TH motherboards I did a little bit of research. I don't own a UP5-TH system but I do have a Hackingtosh based on the non thunderbolt version the Gigabyte GA-Z77-UD5H (rev1.1). The only real major difference between the two is the inclusion of two Intel DSL3510L IC's for the thunderbolt ports on the UP5-TH and an additional Atheros LAN controller on the UD5H, besides that they are essentially the same architecture.

Since the Intel LAN controller on both motherboards is the same one embedded in the Intel Z77 Chipset, I decided to flatten my UD5H system and do a fresh, clean install of OSX 10.9.2 applied all the latest Software Updates and installed FileNVRAM 1.1.2.

iMessage worked straight away with no issues what so ever .... ?

I also note that giacomoleopardo has ASRock Z87E-ITX motherboard, which uses the same family of the Intel LAN controller but in the Z87 chipset as opposed to the Z77 chipset, from what i can make out the ASRock Z87E-ITX does not have Thunderbolt.

So I would suggest that from these findings we can eliminate that the issue is not Ethernet / kext related, nor unique to motherboards that have Thunderbolt ports.

Since I am unable recreate the issue here I'm not sure how much more help I can offer on this latest problem, but I would appreciate any and all feedback form you guys so that we might be able to find the solution.

In terms of magic keys/numbers ... etc the only thing which is used from the NIC is the MAC address which is appended to the system's serial number thus creating a UUID - which is then used as part of the crypto key by OSX session/security services to access the Apple's eco system.

Cheers
Jay

PS: iMessage works on both LAN ports on the Z77-UD5H mobo (Intel & Atheros)

I have a UP5 -TH board. I've been away from home since Saturday and iMessage was working fine at the time. I will be back home either tomorrow or Thursday and I'll report whether my iMessage still works or does not to try narrow down this issue for similar board users.

@giacomoleopardo

I would suggest from the log you have posted, the relevant message is "Public Key not available ....." thats a new one which i've never seen before.

I get the same "assertion failed: 13C64: xpcproxy ...." errors when I use iMessage (on all my systems) but for me it works ok so i don't think that error is relevant, I do not however get the "Public Key not available ....." error message in my logs, so it looks like that is possibly a pointer to the issue. Can other users who are seeing this latest issue confirm the "Public Key not available ....." message in your logs.

I'm sure its not the case but have you guys checked that your not blocking access to the Apple servers via firewall/little snitch ..etc ?

Cheers
Jay

The only message I get in the logs when I try sending a message through iMessage is:

"08.04.14 18:18:18,555 xpcproxy[86309]: assertion failed: 13C64: xpcproxy + 3438 [D559FC96-E6B1-363A-B850-C7AC9734F210]: 0x2"

There is no message about a missing public key, yet still it does not work for me.
