Hi ....i’ve set up my system type to MacPro6,1 and I use the latest clover

Any idea would be appreciate.
Thanks

What is the suffix of your S/N ?, if it begins with C0 or CK this may be causing authorisation issues as MacPro 6,1 is not manufactured at either of those locations .... I believe that Apple may have recently introduced this check to the OSX S/N....please read Part-1, Step-3 of the guide for my latest thoughts on this, try iMac 14,x

Cheers

Hi,

I need your help because I can't get iMessage work (even FaceTime working).
I've followed this excellent guide, but it still doesn't work :(

1) My account is verified (and I’ve tried changing my password)
2) My ethernet card is EN0
3) I use the same S/N that I was using on Maverick (and it was working)
My SN is not an already registered number, i’ve set up my system type to MacPro6,1 and I use the latest clover
4) My Yosemite is a fresh install
5) iMessageDebug always dump me the same NVRAM values

But when I try to connect to iMessage, I have the message "An error occurred during activation. Try again".
It’s strange, I previously updated Maverick to Yosemite, and iMessage was working (after calling Apple giving them the iMessage number).
But after a fresh install of Yosemite with the same clover config, I always have the activation problem message and never have the message indicating I must call Apple.

Any idea would be appreciate.
Thanks

Hello Jay and all,

Very same issue here... I'm working on it right now but with no luck...

Before jumping from Mavericks to Yosemite, I did have the apple call message. I did not call (again) before upgrade to Yosemite.

After the install, when I log to iMessage, I get "An error occurred during activation. Try again".

When I log to Facetime, I get my reachables facetime ids, a popup requiring access to keychain, and then I click on next and it go back to login password form.

Any Idea ?

EDIT: My next try is to move AppleIntelE1000E.kext to /S/L/E from EFI but I'm not convinced...

That could be the point as my S/N begins with C0 (was already the case in Maverick)
I saw that in the guide, but what should I put instead of C0, TX ?

@tom5151,

Use a iMac profile, Mac Pro's 6,1 are very specific as they are produced at a single specialised facility ... I don't know anybody who has a 2014 Mac pro (MacPro 6,1) for me to take a look and figure out what is specific so cant confirm this, as detailed in my guide this is just a theory but it stands to reason .... AFAIK there is no need to use 6,1 everything in OSX can be enabled/supported by using clover and iMac 13,x or 14,x profile. iMacs are made at multiple facilities around the world.

This is exactly the senario detailed in Step-3, Part-1 of the guide ... have you read it ?

As long as you properly create your required values on the SMBIOS tab, export it to the proper location on the system's EFI partition, reboot, run imessage debug. Your ROM and MLB values should now be there as being read from the previously mentioned SMBIOS fields in my earlier post. Can you try that and report back?

Read very carefully the section under "Clover Update October 2014:" In the original post/guide and follow those instructions.

I believe that's the best method going forward; also read carefully 'How to fix iMessage Part-2' and follow instructions in:

Step-7: How to Fix the SId Bug

That's what did the trick for me, called Apple, issue resolved!

Thanks for this great guide that allowed me to discover the mighty Clover, what a great bootloader! Now onto getting handoff to work...
@iDVD,

Step 5d of the guide explains everything everything you need to know about setting and injecting MLB & ROM Values ... be sure to read and understand the whole step ...

Jay

iMessages is working now. I got customer error and then call to the apple support and they fixed my problem. In my case, I generate new values and changed SmUUID and MLB. Thanks for help !!!

Yes, I've read it, and as I have an X79 board and an Xeon processor, I would prefer to keep a MacPro 6,1 def.
The guide explains that C0 or CK in not good, but I don't see what I can put as 2 first characters for a MacPro 6,1 S/N.

I'm in the same situation as the other guy, only I'm using MacPro3,1. If I were to change to iMac13,1 for example, would it require changing my S/N or MLB and ROM values? Or can everything remain the same when I change the system definition?

For the record, you do not have to change your network card to en0. With that said, follow the guide to the letter.

The MLB needs to be your SN plus the extra hex digits. If your system mostly resembles an iMac, choose that system definition instead of Mac3,1. Who cares what the about this mac says.

Sure Mac3,1 is generic, but it will absolutely matter with regards to iMessage. It's all connected.

If you're using clover make sure to verify the SMUUID has the ROM value in it. Make sure youre not using cloned SN.

The guide is pretty straight forward. It never worked for me because I would skip around and not go line by line because it was TL/DR. Trust me. Read it. The time it takes you will be glad because trying to troubleshoot iMessgae without the right settings takes longer.

Use clover configurator (like the guide says :rolleyes:) to change your serial number. Use the magic wand tool. Change your systems definition to a imac. You dont have a xeon processor so why deal with the headache of the Mac Pro definition.

Read the guide man. It will save you tons and tons of headache.

I'm totally lost on what to do. I've gone through this guide. I've confirmed en0, no sid bug, UUID ROM and MLB are all constant even after reboot. I had it working after I fixed the customer code error. Now it no longer works. I keep getting the "an error occurred during activation" prompt after trying to sign in. iCloud works, App Store works. Not sure what changed or what the problem is.

Using Clover on 10.10

Do more than read. Make sure you adhere to the guide. Its good that the values are constant after reboot, but if the values are not matching to apple's internal systems then you still wont get pass the lockout. So you have to be valid as well as be consistent. If it worked before but not now, something changed. So generate a new SN, use the wand tool, make sure the SMUUID has the ROM value, etc....all outlined in the guide. :banghead:

I dont mean to be a tool about it, but this thread is 208 pages long. Nobody wants to go through the pain of 1st installing clover then making sure its configured properly. It's worth it trust me. I had the same issues until I RTFM.

@Walril
I've RTFM ;-)
I've never had headache with MacPro 6,1 and I think (but I can be wrong) that for build with a more than 4 cores processor (which is my case), MacPro definition is closer than iMac.
So the guide explains we don't have to use a S/N beginning with C0 or CK for a MacPro 6,1 definition, but it doesn't explain what to put instead. It's just what I'm looking for :)

@tom5151

Your situation is a little different as youre using a Xeon processor. So Mac6,1 is going to be accurate. But as already mentioned, no one with a legit MacPro6,1 has been able to study the SN, MLB, ROM, combo to get a definitive answer.

Also what does MacPro6,1 get you that iMac14,2 doesn't?
