@kgp
I thought I'd let you know that I just picked up a new Ethernet 10G card, the Sonnet Presto SoloG 10GbE card.
The reason I was interested in it was because Sonnet claimed it would perform natively in a macOS running 10.13.4 or greater. And it's true, it works without any flashing of any kind, it does not need a kext, or any patch!
Performance is roughly equivalent to the Aquantia/Intel X540. Which, for most folks, is fine. As long as they are running 10.13.4 or greater, it literally is plug and play.
More details can be found here (post 300): https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/high-sierra-native-support-for-10gb-ethernet.239690/page-30 and on Sonnet's website.
