Note that the Designare EX has much less USB3.0 and USB2.0 ports than other mainboards.. Not everybody can skip the port limit patch that easily...

I cannot permanently interrupt my work to answer your questions as I am constantly losing what I had in mind to do in the other issue..

Just try to fix the TB-SSDT to be properly implemented..

It just requires an adaptation of the ACPI path and ACPI replacements from Slot-4 to Slot-6... right at the beginning of the aml-file!

That's really basic and IOREG is your friend..

Thank you KGP, I really appreciate the time you've spent looking into this. You don't have to keep investigating if you have higher priority work to do, I'll just elaborate on your points above in case somebody else has figured out Thunderbolt implementation and would be able to help.

1) Use SSDT-9-minimal-hotlug-injector.aml
- This is exactly what I used. The only differences from that file are:
1.a) The PCIe port path according to what I saw in IOreg
1.b) SLO1 got replaced with SLOA to match what I saw in IOreg
1.c) Slot-4 was changed to Slot-6
1.d) "compatible" was changed for Thunderbolt controller to match the value from IOreg
1.e) "subsystem-vendor-id" and "subsystem-id" was changed for both Thunderbolt and USB controllers to match the values in IOreg

2) If your TB-SSDT is properly loaded during boot, "PCI" Section of Apples System report should look like the following:

- I believe the AHCI controller on your screenshot is a RAID plugged into the Thunderbolt, so I don't think I should see that one, but otherwise it's clear. I do see the other 2 devices right now, but they don't have the right properties. I'm also wondering if that's the issue in the first place, because this guide states that Thunderbolt should fully work (without hotplug) even prior to SSDT being applied, and mine didn't. I also couldn't follow the 7) Thunderbolt implementation because the link is broken, and there's no description what actually needs to be installed. I did update the firmware and install windows drivers. I asked about that before, but nobody could answer.

3) That's really basic and IOREG is your friend..
- I think I already did the basic things that are described above, and IOREG will be the Godfather to my firstborn. It's either not that basic, or there's something that I'm overlooking, or I just need to reinstall the whole thing and it might work. All the other devices worked fine when I followed the same process, even though I only needed to adopt Realtek's "compatible" device ID and was able to use other snippets as is, thanks to your tireless work.

I'm not giving up and I'll keep digging, and I hope that other people who try to follow this guide won't have the same frustrating experience if they absolutely need Thunderbolt card to work in Slot 6.

1.) Are you sure that when you disable SL0A it is substituted by PEGP? please look up DSDT.. maybe it is PXSX?
2.) The most recent TB-SSDT has been configured for and tested with the Gigabyte Alpine Ridge.. If you use the latter there is no need for any further adaptations of the file, such as subsystem-vendor-ID, subsystem-ID or compatible! Values have been chosen on purpose such.
3.) "AAPL,slot-name " Slot-4 or Slot-6 is purely cosmetic.

NHI and USB drivers must always appear under "PCI" as depicted in the screenshot attached to my previous post, in case the TB-SSDT has been properly applied .

Furthermore, please check if you see the following TB properties in IOREG after successfully applying the TB-SSDT:

They can create a kext, but that takes some time and trial and error...

There has to be some other workaround, I'll do some digging this week.

Thanks, this is super-helpful. I actually couldn't find PEGP anywhere and wasn't sure where it was coming from. Now I have a new trail to pursue.
 
hello again,
i have two other small but iritating problems,
a) when i boot from my hackintosh disk the clover start dont has as preselected the hacintosh disk and dont have the 5 second count down for auto start, i dont know what i did because it was working fine and when i restarted it automaticaly boot the hac disk, is there any way to fix it and make it like before?
b) some times, like 1 in 10 (maybe less), the hackintosh fails to start up and stays on the leters at the start with a masage somethink like "could not alocate avaliable space" you know this problem? is it fixable?
